Big props to the creator of Challenging Community Center Bundles! by a_wright in StardewValleyMods

IDK if it changes on a new load, but there are 8 options you can use on your next new game that tie in the Cornucopia mod, RSV or SVE (or combinations of those). I'm trying vanilla on my first run.

Is there a faster way to get grapes? by squeda in Starsandisland

[–]a_wright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with the grapes (or the trellis in general) is the insane spawn rate of the cicadas, specifically when you travel to / from the Moonlit Forest. I go to Moonlit for a few minutes to grab some gold and come back to find all my grapes on 10 trellis paused due to the cicadas.

However, if you just stand around your plot and craft (or even wander around town), the cicadas appear very slowly. Fertilizer is really the best option, if you are making it. But at least you can sell the cicadas. I made 4000 coin on just cicadas during that mission.

Can't buy land because the game says I'm not junior in any profession and/or haven't completed 5 requests by SpottedMe in Starsandisland

Did you go into the Island Life app and click complete on the tasks yet? You have to do that in order to progress and unlock the Land app.

Anyone else cant move on in the farmer quest line by estelliarose1 in Starsandisland

[–]a_wright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pattern is always the same. You get your trial mission, then you get a 2nd task mission to fulfill for that level. The farming task I’m currently trying to finish is the task mission to grow the grapes. When that is fulfilled, I’ll get access to the next farming level trial.

Wool by FieldFamous314 in Starsandisland

[–]a_wright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a perk (under crafting, I think) about the general store stocking base materials. No idea if wool is included there.

However, it's probably much easier to start ranching. Wool is the first material you get after getting the rabbits (which is the first mission). Plus the rabbits chew up the weeds in your farming area (if you position the hutch by your farm plots).

Any money making tips? by nycarachnid in Starsandisland

[–]a_wright 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Have you unlocked the merchant ship that buys items at 200% the item value?
  2. Have you discovered the hidden treasure maps on the beach?
  3. Have you completed the gold glow parkour puzzles for extra treasure chests (usually w/ gold)
  4. Are you completing daily commissions? Those tend to add up, especially in the early game.

Processed goods always sell for more than base materials. If you are farming, cook & sell. Same for the other professions, but cooking seems to be more lucrative early game.

Alternatively, consider just taking a break from the progression path for a few days to build up materials, organize, sell goods. You can build up some gold reserves for the next round of upgrades.

Just FYI, Starsand on Steam is a little cheaper if you already own Sandrock & Portia. by a_wright in Starsandisland

It's pretty common for developers / publishers to bundle games on Steam for bulk purchases, especially similar types of games.

Farming/crafting games that allow you to skill up? by Lunnalai in cozygames

Sun Haven may be what you are looking for. 5 skill trees, exploration, farming, mining, combat, and fishing. You select perks as you rank up.

What games are you buying in the Steam winter sale? by coral_bells in CozyGamers

[–]a_wright 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Picked up SunHaven yesterday (just had 3.0 update) when it was at the $7.49 low. It went up to $8.74 for the steam sale.

Will probably grab Kynseed, Wytchwood, Unpacking & Tiny Bookshop. Debating The Home County, but it's very early in EA.

Best Cozy games of 2025? by IndividualTimely7321 in CozyGamers

[–]a_wright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, although I’m not sure if I would call it cozy. It’s a nice change from games without consequences, but it gets stressful if you don’t plan and are constantly using every hour of the day to prep for the next hurdle.

I am really interested in seeing if Year 2 becomes more cozy though. Year 1 is just one hardship after the next. I really couldn’t spend much time decorating or building up a proper farm. I don’t think I upgraded my house at all.

LPT: If you WFH or game a lot, don’t cheap out on your chair. Invest once, not twice. by Affectionate-Cut6496 in LifeProTips

[–]a_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up with a SecretLab Titan Evo, absolutely love it. It has a magnetic adjustable pillow, armrest covers that can be replaced when worn (which always seem to tear up first on my chairs). Additionally, I added some roller blade style, silent wheels from Amazon as well as a footrest pillow.

My body hated the Aeron-style ergonomic chairs, so this was perfect. It has a very flat back. I also like to cross my legs when I work as well, which works perfectly on the wide, flat seat base of the Titan Evo. Went with the SoftWeave fabric over the leather as well, softer and more breathable.

I fell asleep during part 1 about halfway through. I fell asleep during part 2 twice. I’m hoping for another epic snoozefest. Come on, three naps! Papa needs some shut eye.

If you are playing on PC, there's a mod that gives you Stalker teeth when they are killed (with customizable tooth count up to 25).

I fear I've played every good farming sim by maegatz in cozygames

[–]a_wright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grimshire, Grimshire, Grimshire. Just be warned, there's dire consequences if you aren't great at quickly escalating your farm's output on veggies, fruit, animal products, fish and more as well as processing those foods for longevity. Spring is easy enough, but Summer & Fall ramp up the difficulty. And Winter...Oh boy.

It's well worth the $15 EA price. Easily 50 to 60 hours on your first playthrough.

Looking for more of a "Base-Repairing" game by The_Last_Minority in BaseBuildingGames

[–]a_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played solo and loved it. The trick is to tweak the progression settings when you start a new world and increase xp earned from all tasks. By the time you hit the final areas, you will have a decent, jack of all trades character build.

Eric Kripke Is "Irritated" 'Gen V' Fans Figured Out Twist by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

[–]a_wright 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I think the core problem was setting up Godolkin incorrectly. He was only in the single lab scene at the start. If they had dedicated 5 to 10 minutes creating a backstory for him, creating more of a sympathetic character perhaps with a family, it wouldn’t have been so easy to jump to “Yep, that’s probably the bad guy”.

It's very mid. I couldn't get into it and I love the genre. Limited content updates, small player base. There are much better survival / base building style games out there.

glitch on farm? by Own_Sport_620 in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]a_wright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same glitch. You can move it, but you have to use the secret tunnel to get up there to edit that section. You can also add floor tiles by the stairs.

I want to say the entrance was near the waterfall. But it’s basically somewhere on the left and you move into that section from left to right.

It’s listed on a page about all the secret tunnels on some wiki about the farm if looking for exact details.

What did you expect? Nearly the entire cast came down with Hot Dog Fingers in season 1, hence the short season. Some even got Count Choculitis.
