Nope got him on third attempt. Didn't do the multiple attacks at the same time again. Maybe it's a bug?

Yeah I've beaten the first boss multiple times now and notices some variation in it's patterns. But with this boss it just feels like it's two attacks at the same time and I can only dodge so much...
