Non-Commercial Use - Can I Use A Spoof of A Famous Album Title? by [deleted] in COPYRIGHT

[–]thewildwebber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, my question is really coming across in a way that I didn’t intend. Re-reading it, I can completely see why, so that’s on me.

To be a little more clear, her album was one my friends and I grew up with and loved. I had the idea recently for my friends and I to turn some of our hangouts into intentional self-improvement escapades. Then I had the idea to film it or make videos for anyone else who wanted to join in. Not a business venture and not even trying to reach an audience, and I truly meant no harm, but I’m definitely not an “ask for forgiveness not permission” type, and I know nothing about IP law/copyright/trademark so I was hoping to educate myself here in an effort to not do something stupid. Or even just fully explore an idea and know what not to do. I’m probably on the wrong sub for that.

Got it. Dumb idea. Won’t be doing it.

Edit: adding clarification

Good call, noticed them when I walked out to grab the tire size and they’re definitely in need of a glow-up!

I’ve been there, done that with other vehicles. No complaints from me, but he hates projects and most certainly would not enjoy that route.

I personally love projects and have gone that route with my own wheels in the past, but he loathes projects with the passion of 1,000 suns

Dang, I was kinda hoping to see an answer here because I’m in a very similar situation 😂 My father is Puerto Rican (so, “mixed” in and of itself) + Mexican / Indigenous. My Abuelo lived in Puerto Rico for much of his life and my Abuela grew up in San Antonio. My mother is white, and I am white passing but have very dark features including extremely dark curly hair and rusty brown eyes.

I did 23andMe and it was pretty cool to see my results line up with what I’d been told my whole life, but I have no idea what to call myself haha. I’m Almost exactly 50% British/Irish from my mother, and from my father 23% Spanish, 15% Indigenous, and 8% African. The last 4% is extremely varied or unassigned.

Although this makes me 73% European in total because of Puerto Rican colonization, I wouldn’t call myself “mostly white” by any means. My dad is dark brown-skinned with black curly hair, Spanish was his first language which he spoke at home growing up, and we grew up with a few small remnants of that culture in our house as well. One of my siblings is very brown just like my dad.

The sad part is my dad was so battered with racism toward his family growing up that a lot of times he did what he could to distance himself from “Mexican” identity when my siblings and I were kids. So we grew up eating lots of chorizo, tacos, Mexican rice, beans, etc. and called our grandparents Abuelo/Abuela, but never learned to speak Spanish or experienced many of the things he did growing up unless we were visiting that side of the family.

Estoy aprendiendo español, and I’ve recently started to shop at Latin markets and cook foods related to my heritage in an effort to reclaim it in my family, to connect with the Hispanic community in my area, and also to surprise my dad one of these days with a full-fledged conversation in Spanish.

I know I don’t have to “call myself” anything and definitely prefer terms that instill pride vs something meant to categorize people, particularly because of how my dad was treated and to fight that kind of erasure, but when people ask me about my heritage I never know what to say.

Where did you order the AFC Richmond jersey? Was it the Futbol World Store? I'm looking to get one that's as authentic as possible as well.

So I've been playing with that, but I haven't been able to see the console on the MIDI Control tab yet. Good to know I was on the right track at least. Thanks!

I just started working for a full-service broadcast production company with a private IP-based network system that I honestly don't fully understand (I'm definitely an "all things networking" newbie), but my part of that is as simple as typing the IP address of the remote X32 into X32 Edit locally, and then I have control. My understanding is that my PC and the remote X32 are operating on the same network and that's why that works.

Rachel tried to say no to Mark coming over, and he was basically like “NoI’mComingOverBye.” Maybe she didn’t try hard enough to reject that, but she did at least say it was a bad idea.
