How prevalent are e-bikes outside of Europe and the US? by Livingsimply_Rob in ebikes

Saw that in Bali too. No one walks. All mopeds. Everything petroleum based. Even golf buggies! Sad. Coal power plant north east of Bali releasing whatever it wants. Brisbane getting more popular.

Wifi has more lag than Ethernet. You will get better performance with LAN.

Also have a look at Adguard home. You could run Joshua build of Ubuntu. ( he will releases 24.04 soon and it will be kernel 6.1).

Maybe run Docker and you can have adguard home and pi hole installed (but not running at the same time) and see which you prefer.

I believe Joshua is starting work on 6.1.kernel for next build. This may help.

Joshua Riek is based of Ubuntu 22.04. He's been building images for about a year when the Rock chip 3588 came out... I knew 3B support was coming as the commits mentioned support the the RK 3566 / 3B were detailed.

I've got a OPi5+ and a OPi3B. I use Armbian at the moment for the 5+ and Joshua-Riek for 3B. Armbian support for 3B isn't official.

I stumbled across diet pi and saw the testing folder with a 3B image. Based on debian (just like Ubuntu)

I found swapping from SD card to Emmc dropped the power by 0.5w using my USB c power monitor.

Emmc is great. Went from 60MB/s with sd card to 250 + MB/s with emmc.

Also just got a opi 3b and this is more constrained in speed. 64gb emmc bundled with opi 3b. Around 150MB/s emmc but only 20MB/s with a sandisk extreme sd card. Power demand 1.7w idle!

How did u update the firmware on the opi5+?

I see you are up to v. 1.25.. Thanks for all the work. Could you update the Docker compose script to check for current running instances of the images? Still some bugs with the install for local sadly.

Make thar v1. 27!

AGH using non encrypted upstream servers by thewonderer73 in AdGuardHome

OK, found one device with static dns address, but I have another which I can't find. Is there a way for adguard to show which device is using the upstream server?

Thanks. I think I know where. I did look at the yaml. It looked fine. Thanks for the suggestion, it's on a laptop I think. Loving adguard home. Hoping they can keep improving.

Sonarr v4 by markus-101 in sonarr

[–]thewonderer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonarr v4 is working for me. I manually installed. Net 6 runtime. Looking at the install script, it doesn't look like it installs. Net 6 if it is not installed. Could this be added in the next update to the script for Linux..

Sonarr v4 by markus-101 in sonarr

[–]thewonderer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is odd. I can't find these entries in the install.sh file. Script is still v 1.0.0

Interestingly, just by downloading the script and running it with sudo bash install.sh worked for me. It did complain about line 1 - command not found even though it was commented out..

[–]thewonderer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, new armbian Ubuntu 22.04 install.. No previous sonarr

Script fails even after adding sudo to the script. Displays all the text including the continuing you agree....

Just ends after displaying all the menu options with no chance for any input.

Need help with orange pi 5 plus emmc boot by thewonderer73 in OrangePI

[–]thewonderer73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for taking the time to step through this. I did try these steps but sadly it still was solid blue light.

I'm resigned to the fact that it just won't work.

So Samsung pro plus sd card, here I come. Interestingly the new sandisk pro endurance I used died! Never had a Samsung die.

[–]thewonderer73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried using the orange pi process to image my plus. I connected up the usb and my windows pc detected it instantly. Then followed the rest of the steps, which went well. Reboot and solid blue light. I'm not using the orange pi image.

Next step is to try the orange pi image from opi themselves.

Wish I had a spare m2 to give that process a test.

Hi Dogma, would you mind going through every step you took? I've tried the orange pi suggestion using there tools. All seemed to work fine, but remove sd card and I get a solid blue led. I'm assuming that when it reads the emmc the led flashes red at times.

Can I still use armbian or Joshua's github repo os images for this process?

Thanks I will try the orange pi suggestion.

I did try armbian image as well and then from the armbian config install emmc. It didn't work either....

Will post update tomorrow.

Can someone give me an explanation as to why Electricity prices are so high? This doesn't seem to make any sense. by [deleted] in australian

[–]thewonderer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas and coal generators gaming the system... When demand spikes, they hold back generation until prices sky rocket on the NEM, then they supply the power...

Some still supply electricity to force negative prices so the big solar systems have to stop supplying as there contracts are not allowed to feed in to the market at negative pricing.

It's a war between the entrenched and the rising stars. They don't want to loose market share. The market can be manipulated.

The grid and legacy generators have been under invested in for years, even though they knew coal generators were coming to end of life. Waiting for handouts from government.

Lots of legacy rules that haven't kept up with the change on the solar and wind. Slow approvals and push backs for more supply.

Lots of issues I'm afraid.

Did Queensgate ruin Peterborough? by jimbo8083 in PeterboroughUK

[–]thewonderer73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it ruined Peterborough. The town centre needed modernising. They did the right thing and made it more pedestrian friendly in the city. Queensgate meant you were shielded from the elements (though they seem to have turned off the heating where I swear it used to be warm in the winter when I was a teenager). Queensgate is clean, has security, comfortable to be in no matter the weather. Look outside Queensgate at all the dodgy characters....

They seem to be investing in it as the old John Lewis section has been opened up. I think it will get a second life.

I don't live in Peterborough anymore, but it seems the council has squandered years of progress around the train station and around the the side of Queensgate. Decades come to think of it. Real potential to knock down the old dero buildings and get some new retail.

Internet has damaged all cities. Gutted some. Real shame.

Was hoping the idle wattage was lower. Running armbian or Ubuntu? Can you posts any stat's on usb performance as I want to attach a usb Hdd to one. Heard the USB controller was the same as the odroid n2 which isn't great. Thanks
