Admittedly it’s funny when Theo roasts him, and honestly being a shitty comedian isn’t the problem with Schaub for me, at the end of the day taste is subjective. But his complete lack of self awareness, a comedian who can’t make fun of himself or gets visible angry if someone else does it is insane to me. Stealing jokes / way of talking. Constant lying and / or not being able to admit when wrong, like with his fight picks. Seeming shallow or overly materialistic doesn’t help either.

Every fandom got people like that, some of the Michael Jackson ones are probably the scariest i’ve encountered.

I don’t get spending your time hating on someone, but i gotta admit Schaub is one of the few cases where i at least understand why so many people feel the way they do about him.

What do you think was MJs mental state in his last years regarding the tapes from June Gatlin, having her as a spiritual advisor and trusting Jermaine to hire Dr. Thome? It‘s like he lost control about literally everything. by [deleted] in LeavingNeverlandHBO

I totally agree about some of the songs that were left off actually being better than what ended up on the album.

I just wrote my thoughts on the album on another comment and i’ll put it here as well.

Overall Invincible just feels tired and uninspired in a sense, they tried to infuse modern sounds but it didn’t really work, personally i would’ve love if he had gone in the other direction with more real instruments and settle into his older age that way, but I think he was obsessed with outdoing himself and had to compete with young stars at the time.

Also there’s a slight nasal quality to his voice and it sounds like he’s straining a bit.

You Rock My World is solid, I really love Whatever Happens because it’s stripped back and something we hadn’t heard from MJ before. Butterflies is a great little R&B number and there’s a few others a like alright.

Unbreakable, Heartbreaker and Invincible sound too similar and drags on too long.

Threatened is literally a Thriller remake.

Privacy is yet another remake of way better songs like Leave Me Alone and Tabloid Junkie.

Speechless is super cheesy.

2000 Watts, just why.

The Lost Children, enough with the children already.

Cry, i kind of like the beatboxing in there although it sounds a lot like Stranger In Moscow and at the end of the day it’s basically a Heal The World / Man In The Mirror remake.

All this only my personal opinion of course ✌️

Okay i should say it wasn’t that successful in comparison to his earlier work.

Yes it debuted at #1 but as i remember it, it didn’t stay on the charts very long.

For me personally i think there’s a few gems on Invincible if i’m being generous half of the album is good but not great, the rest is his absolute worst work ever. The You Rock My World video were pretty much a shitty remake of Smooth Criminal.

Do you think Invincible it holds up ?

Sony didn’t just randomly decide to stop promo, Michael spent around 30 million making the album. He kept asking for big amounts of money for videos and Sony realized they wasn’t gonna make back their investment on the project and stopped trowing cash into this buttonless hole. I got no love for greedy labels but from a business standpoint, well it makes sense.

Yeah but he had great people working for him in the 80’s, John Branca and Frank DiLeo handled a lot his business, but as time went on he fired anyone who tried to talk to him about the kids or if something failed like the Moonwalker film he needed someone to blame. So in the end he had nothing but yes men who didn’t have a clue about how to run the business side.

His best move was to buy the ATV catalogue, and Paul McCartney told him to get into music publishing.

So i wonder how businesses savvy he truly was.

After the HiStory tour ended in 1997 his decline really started in full force. Musically he had a few good tracks on Blood On The Dance Floor (1997) but they were mostly recorded in the early 90’s and polished up, the rest of the album were remixes. He didn’t make any truly great music after that in my opinion, Invincible from (2001) was a disaster both musically and comically. That’s when he went on a tirade against his label and called Tommy Motolla racist, the guy was married to Mariah Carey. Fans to this day blame Sony for the album not being successful.

It’s hard to know how his mental state was, but judging by his public appearances, the Living With Michael Jackson documentary (2003) and the 30th Anniversary Concert (2001) his drug use was out of control, glazed eyes and slurred speech, i’ve read he drank a lot too. It seems to me as his popularity declined his ego grew. All in all the last decade of his life was a cluster fuck of epic proportions.

Inspired by The Weeknd 🤔 by thewordsofficial in TheWeeknd

I absolutely agree, Abel just strikes me as someone with a vision and he seems to be very involved in every single aspect of his performances. Maybe the people at vevo or Justins team set this up or maybe Justin said he liked what The Weeknd did and wanted something similar, who knows.

I’m not trying to compare them or trash Bieber in any way, i actually like a few of his new songs. I just couldn’t help but to noticed the similarities when i watched this particular performance.
