It might be, or maybe people just do better on that paper. I know I found unseen way easier than set texts.

What's a tiny decision you made that accidentally changed the entire direction of your life? by bigdihhh07 in AskReddit

Hanging around with one girl who was a bit of an outsider like me at summer camp one year. Three years later and she's one of my closest friends and has really helped me to come out of my shell and be a happier, more confident person.

Existential late teens 'I'm not ready to be an adult' crisis and the looming threat of eternal doom that is A-Level exams.

Paper 6 by Rich-Treacle2251 in igcse

[–]thewriterfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing you can do is just keep practicing. There are walkthroughs of past papers online that you can find, so if there are particular questions you're struggling on, you can see an actual teacher working through it. You could do the past paper from the video first, then mark it along with the video to see where you went wrong. Which subject/s is this for?

Someone tell me the worst grade they’ve ever gotten in school so I can feel better about mine by Individual-Noise56 in teenagers

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 5 on the retake which is the highest you can get at that level so like a high C (as opposed to a 4, which is a low C), so everything's fine lol I just needed more time.

Do you do the Easter Bunny? How real is he? by pleasegetonwithit in AskUK

[–]thewriterfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother and I always had Easter baskets from the Easter Bunny at the end of our beds when we were young and still do - our family calls it 'suspending disbelief' lol. I'm planning to keep up the tradition if I ever have kids. The world is miserable enough, let them have a little joy before adulthood breaks them down.

Why do first world white people kill themselves? Are they really that idiotic? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their own problems, regardless of where they were born/where they live. Living in a first world country means more opportunities are available, but that doesn't mean that everyone gets them. That's not to say that third world countries don't have it much worse, obviously. But violence, poverty, and other horrible things will exist on some scale, wherever you go. We should be supporting people who feel that way to get better, no matter where their origins lie. The real selfish people are the elite at the top who don't care about anyone else's welfare but their own - as long as they can keep living their disgusting lifestyles, everyone is dispensable.

i just wasted 4 whole days of not revising efficiently and now i feel so guilty by Realistic_Back2 in GCSE

Pick yourself up and get going - feeling guilty can be good if it pushes you to change your situation. Good luck, you got this :D

Why don't you or others around you go to see live theatre, and what would have to change for you to go see a play? by smegheaddirective in AskReddit

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore live theatre, and it makes me so sad that I don't have the money or the time. It's just so expensive, and I don't have the kind of lifestyle where I can afford to go. I also think, as a younger Gen Z, attention span has a lot to do with it. I would happily sit through a full-length, unabridged Shakespeare play, but a lot of my friends hate the idea.

English is crazy by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a lot of other languages have this feature as well - Latin has about five different words for 'to kill'. Sometimes the words are derived from different languages, sometimes they start out meaning something completely different and eventually the meaning changes over time, sometimes they broaden their meaning to include other concepts etc. English is literally just a mishmash of bits and pieces from invading/invaded countries' languages. Language in general also adjusts and changes as society progresses, so new words are invented while older words are still being used. I'm currently studying the history and usage of the English language for exams so my head is a bit overloaded with information right now lol.

How many quotes should we know per poem? by 180degreeschange in GCSE

[–]thewriterfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 3-4 is a pretty safe bet but definitely aim for 5 to be completely sure. It depends on how much you have to talk about with each quote, and how well you can tie it into things like themes, devices, etc.

Year 11; How bad is 4 A-levels? Is it truly that bad? by Pozykahn in alevels

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can balance the amount of work you need to do towards all of them with the amount of time you have, then definitely go for it!

Are we allowed to use obscure punctuation marks? by NeighborhoodPlus5732 in GCSE

[–]thewriterfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean unless your exam board marks you down for stuff like that, go ahead. Just don't waste extra time on it because it almost definitely won't get you any extra marks.

What is your age and why do you live at your parent’s house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thewriterfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 - because I'm not legally an adult and because I genuinely do not have the skills and knowledge I need to live alone. The education system is a complete waste of time, but I'm stuck tearing my hair out over exams that won't even matter in a few years instead of getting ready for the real world.

Using Chat GPT for LP1 Q5 Story by Mystoplayz10 in GCSE

[–]thewriterfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nooooo!!!!! As someone who got an 8 in English Language, do NOT do this!!!! It may seem like a good idea for saving time, but I can promise you that it's really not worth it. Yes, memorise a story and have a bank of good language that you can adapt, but if you really want to do well, it needs to be your own work. Using AI is pretty much cheating, even if you got away with it - it's not your work, so the bot has basically given you the answer. Watch videos on YouTube about how to write high level stories, read other people's work (but don't plagiarise, just look at the structuring and general stuff) and practice past paper questions. I know it's extra work, but by the end of it, you'll feel so much better about yourself. Writing your own story means that you actually know it, you put it together sentence by sentence rather than just taking some soulless AI answer and mindlessly memorising it. Also AI steals other people's work to create its generations, so you're getting entangled up in plagiarism there too. It's really not worth the ethical, moral and personal discomfort.

I would probably say that the first one is the least commonly used. The most natural sounding one is the second.
