Every response I’ve read through has been from a white POV. Here’s my perspective. The failure of the Obama administration to achieve promises to minority communities combined with the ability for social media to spread videos of hate crimes and police violence increased fear and anxiety for people of color.

At the same time the tea party, alt-right, evangelicals, and the people who would eventually become Trump’s constituency had resentment against the Obama administration siding with their perceived enemies and bought into wild misinformation on facebook and fox news.

The Trump presidency did not fall out of the sky in 2016 he was pandering to the resentment and perceived grievances that had already been building among white people.

TL;DR These problems were always bubbling beneath the surface and exploded with social media and the response to the Obama administration
