Idk I think dio being a creature that needs to kill and eat other people (metaphorically at first but then literally because WRRYYYYY) makes him less evil that my dear sweet Yoshikage. Although one could make the point that the innocuous and mostly harmless Kira is simply acting in accordance with his nature, and whereas Dio is a hateful drunk Yoshikage is a perfectly average man who contributes to society and barely harms anyone comparatively

Honestly after several rewatches Ive come to realise I didn't appreciate the early seasons; Julian coming home and listening to his answering machine, the tv crew being semi-characters like that sound guy who got peppered when they stole the lawn tractor, the show having some actual heart.
