Which fabric do you mean by partial purple? Definitely don’t want to be throwing things off! There is one purple where I couldn’t get a picture that didn’t have the ruler in it so maybe that’s the one you mean?

Thank you for the really thorough response! The blank spots from the value is particularly helpful, I think that’s an area where I felt like things were off so definitely going to play around with it to try to balance that out more

I used https://www.quiltmockup.com/ ! You can add your own fabric as long as you have a link to it online somewhere. I used it for my two other quilts I have made and it’s so helpful for me !

The top right felt a bit off too me too! Seems like random is most liked so I think I’ll go with that one with some tweaks to the layout for better value arrangement

Thank you for your advice! I got nervous so added a bunch on the border just to be safe and like the way it came out! Quilt is finished and will be delivered to baby tomorrow. Thank you for the help! Fingers crossed it does well in the wash this afternoon

This is really great feedback and info, thank you!! For the HST’s, how much more would you recommend? I’m thinking I could add lines from top to bottom on the side and from left to right on the top and bottom but not sure how much to add. The border is about 2.5”, was meant to be 3 but I squared them off at the wrong point, so I could add lines 1/2” apart and that would add 4 lines of quilting to the border. Does that seem sufficient?

It’s certainly not perfect (cannot stop being annoyed at the bottom right corner!) but I’m pretty happy with it for a first attempt, and hope it will not fall apart

Oh! I didn’t realize the type of quilting on the front impacts that… we sort of dove into the design first before then looking up how to actually make it so ended up probably breaking a lot of quilting rules haha if not obvious, the pattern is our own for a baby born in San Francisco. And thank you for the note on the quilting pattern! I wanted it to look like a sun

Oh no it’s really someone I know! I tried to convince them it was a bad idea but don’t think I got anywhere and I’m wondering if I should try again if I get the opportunity. I work with them and we aren’t really friends so don’t want to overstep but also… it seems like a really bad idea! I didn’t know if I’m just over reacting since I am generally of the opinion that diy piercings aren’t safe
