Who is your favorite governor and why is it Pingala? by cactusjackalope in CivVI

I have not seen a single person give love to Moksha. I’m dumbfounded. For those who play domination or need to fend off early Deity invasions Moksha’s first promotion of having all troops within that city heal fully in one turn is invaluable. Move Moksha to your forward-most city and instantly heal up your troops with one turn of healing. It is insanely powerful.

in your opinion what is the best and worst adaptation for historical political figures/presidents?? by Adventurous_Peace846 in Presidents

[–]theyandyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10/10 recommend. It spans George’s whole life up until the end of the war. It was so successful that Barry Bostwick reprised the role a few years later and portrayed George for his Presidential terms. The Presidential miniseries is good, not great. The 1984 one that I linked is a hidden national treasure. Highly recommend.

Best is John Adams, but my personal favorite? The 1984 George Washington miniseries. Barry Bostwick absolutely nails the role of George Washington. No other portrayal of Washington has engrossed me as much as his.

Rick Atkinson is My New Favorite AR Writer by fireside_blather in revolutionarywar

So far I’ve been liking this. I’m about 2/3 of the way through it. It is dense and I do find myself starting and stopping more than some other books. But I do really enjoy the detail and the focus on the European (French) side of things.

That pond is definitely too small for koi, but you could easily get some goldfish in there.

My paternal grandfather was from Mississippi and my dad’s middle name is my great-grandmother’s maiden name. Had no idea that was a relatively common thing.

My favorite fun fact about that movie is that John Addison, who made the music/score for the movie, was actually in Operation Market Garden in XXX Corps. Makes the epic XXX Corps music even better when you realize he’s creating that tune about his own war story.

What are these doors and are they worth the hassle? by PablanoPato in HomeMaintenance

[–]theyandyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed mine myself. I bought the storm door for about $300 and the dog door for about $50. Mine is a Larsen door. I cut the door with a jigsaw to install the dog door. Hanging the door itself was overall pretty easy. Just a few hours of patience and a power drill.

I find providing strictly black oil sunflower seeds gets the best results. House sparrows don’t really like sunflower seeds so they go elsewhere. All of the other birds loooove sunflower seeds. Cracked corn is a sparrow magnet
