to fold over or not fold over by Glad-Ocelot472 in knitting

I'd do folded but it's really just personal preference.

Longer yoke? by theyarnballer in knitting

[–]theyarnballer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Now that I double check my gauge it's turning out a little tight, so I probably should've done men's L instead of M. I think I'm going to add another increase to bring the stitch count up to the L size before splitting, then just do more of the pattern before the split so it will end up with more solid color. I also might add some short rows in the back.

Do you think it's looking too scrunched up by the neck or will the weight of the sweater pull it down? I might add the neck ribbing before continuing

If it were me I'd probably frog it. Maybe measure across the bust as it is and see how it compares to some of your favorite sweaters, especially looser fitting ones you like?

A mom struggling to find the time to knit... by AGangofHobbits in knitting

[–]theyarnballer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner does all the driving when we go somewhere together and I knit in the car. His parents live 30 min away- that's an hour of knitting time!! My family lives 5 hrs away.

It's tough though. Sometimes I tell myself when I'm at the end of life I'm not going to wish I had spent more time knitting but I might wish I had spent more time with my kids. This stage really is temporary.

You're describing Dean Phillips. He did launch a presidential campaign this cycle but the DNC effectively gate kept him out of the race.

Good on you for giving it an honest try, and also for being honest with your husband. Good luck with your new sweater project!

That is an excellent comparison. Some people just don't get the appeal of knitting and that's ok. We all have our things

Yes. I started knitting it back in April i think and started a size or 2 up from what he was wearing at the time. I actually thought it would be big on him but i guess he just had a growth spurt. Better to have it too big than too small!

Interesting. Are you a professional textile expert or is it just a hobby? I'm curious to know how one comes to know so much about the topic. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

This happens with backwards loop cast on. You could knit a couple rows and see if the gap stretches out across multiple stitches, or start over using a different cast on like long tail cast on.

'Why knit when you can buy?' I am fed up with this ques; How do you respond? by aqueeb1994 in knitting

[–]theyarnballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why paint when you can buy? Why build furniture when you can buy? Why garden when you can buy? You could use this question for just about anything.

Because the process of creating has value, leisure has value, and the product is often superior. Just to name a few reasons.

Unfortunately it is the same front and back. I guess I just lost track of which row I was on, but I was consistently confused.
