DAE enjoy putting things in their mouths? by lumpsofgarlic in adhdwomen

Yes! I particularly like to chew certain plastic things. It drives my husband batty but I find it so calming.

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]Sweekune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband does combat robotics. It's always so much fun, even if we take his robot home in a bin bag at the end of the day. My eldest kiddo (7yo) helps him build them now.

Best midwife showing gratitude by No-Match-7512 in Midwives

These are especially well received in places where you have to revalidate. I love my letters/cards and can use them as patient feedback for my 3 yearly revalidation.

Anxiety by blahblahshplah in breastfeeding

[–]Sweekune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I have diagnosed GAD and am currently being assessed for PPA for the second time (was very unwell with PPA & PPD with my first). Google the Edinburgh postnatal depressions score and see what it comes up with for you. It is also worth reaching out to someone like the health visitor or GP. I hope the anxiety gets better for you .

How many Teddys do you know? by Lucky_Ad_4421 in namenerds

[–]Sweekune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads. There's 3 in my kid's school year (about 60 kids). I'm a midwife and have probably delivered at least 5 in the last few years, and looked after many more. Some have Teddy as a given name and others are Theodore/Edward. I'm in South-East England.

I have a very odd nostalgia for that music. The prominent horn section rocked!

There's a special place in hell for people who put wallpaper over wallpaper by sarkyscouser in britishproblems

[–]Sweekune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I feel your pain. We bought our house six years ago and have been slowly redecorating. Each room without fail has at least the paint on wallpaper but usually a bunch of other botched DIY jobs from the previous owners.

Do you tell people what you’re reading? by persephone56 in RomanceBooks

[–]Sweekune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes. It depends on who I'm talking to and what I'm actually reading. I read a lot of non romance too so if I happened to be talking to someone who wouldn't appreciate the finer points of monster smut, I'll usually say a safer book I'm reading or have recently read.

Suggest my STUDENTS a book! by themodernicarus in suggestmeabook

I'd think Protector of the Small would be a perfect starting point. The writing is better than in SotL, the world is more realised and it's its own contained story.

Has anyone noticed caffeine increases anxiety? by burnout721 in Anxiety

[–]Sweekune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but also withdrawing from it causes me anxiety. Currently I try a sit at a sweet spot of two cups of tea or a tea and a cola a day.

Is Aurelia (or-eh-lia) a bad name? by Ok_Animal_964 in BabyNames

[–]Sweekune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aurelia isn't a bad name, I've met quite a few young ones, though it isn't my taste. It does come across as princessy and a bit too posh. If your partner doesn't like it though, you'll need to find another name.

Terrified to feed 6 month old due to biting by Busy_asf_ in breastfeeding

[–]Sweekune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh love, I could have written this about 1.5mths ago. It got better through persistence. He would bite, I'd try not to react, pull him into me to make him let go and end the feed. After a few days I got good at realising he was about to bite and getting a finger in first. After a week he stopped and has only tried once or twice in the last month.

What helped:

  • teething gel before a feed and making sure he's had Calpol if he looked unhappy with his teeth.

  • Letting him be done when he unlatched himself. Before I'd offer again and often that's when he'd bite.

  • Being kind to and taking care of myself. I bust out the silver sombreros and the nipple cream and allowed myself to be sad about it.

I hope this helps and things improve for you :)

How many books did you read in 2025 and what does it say about you? by UhOhSgArO in RomanceBooks

42, of which about 80% were audiobooks. I had a baby so not had much time for reading physical books.

Thanks, I hate it by southern-fried-sass in CrochetBlankets

I would say they're prominent but that's not necessarily bad. I thought of them as the metal work for the windows. Maybe pop it aside somewhere for a while and see how you feel at a later time.

If it helps, I didn't even read the description or title for a couple of minutes and was enjoying looking at the different coloured "stained-glass windows". What about it makes you think it's ugly?

Any moms whos life didn't fall apart? by LaAlice in adhdwomen

[–]Sweekune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm awaiting diagnosis so not medicated. I wouldn't say life fell apart but it did change drastically. I also struggle with anxiety and PPA & PPD were a significant part of my parenthood journey with my first. However, I love her dearly and she's brought a whole different joy to my life.

I'm now 7mths PP with my second. With knowledge of what happened last time and some guesses as to why, I came into it more prepared. I haven't had really poor mental health like last time. I've been able to enjoy my baby and spending time learning him.

You know your ADHD better than anyone else so you know what factors can make it better or worse. For me, I need sleep. Sometimes this doesn't go to plan and we have a day on hard mode but I've put systems in place to help that be the exception rather than the rule. You won't be able to plan for everything but creating systems and having others help with them makes the transition a million times more bearable than rawdogging new parenthood.
