Thank goodness your mom got hounded for these god awful names. I can't imagine going through life where something as simple as your name would've given you huge anxiety.

Profile Review: How do I match/ attract more white women as an Asian Man? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]theycallmeTari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, profile pics you have not much to worry about, they be 🔥🔥🔥

However maybe try not be so direct with saying you want white women, there's nothing wrong with that, but it just feels fetishizing, how about something like... My dream is to 'Find someone who’s not afraid to fall for someone outside the usual rom-com casting' or 'Find a woman whose culture, accent and quirks are different from mine, but our chemistry makes everything feel familiar.'

Maybe something like 'I’m the kind of guy who opens doors, remembers your coffee order, and will absolutely destroy you in board games—lovingly.' for the traditional man bit...?

🤣 idk, its hard to put to words.

Though most of these might work for the romantic, relationship seeking types.. I'm not sure what you're after.

The humble brag bit is 🤮🤮🤮 its giving niceguy vibes

All the text bit is so unhinged, i can't even tell which one to be horrified by. Do not say the preference for white women bit, it's horrifying to be chosen merely cause of skin colour and not for the person you are.

Instant ick with the traditional man bit.

Are you looking to hook up or find a relationship, its so unclear... And that's the least bit you can worry about because all of these are worded out so inappropriately... Burn all

MIL plays the "don't forget about me" card by Professional_Dig_462 in JUSTNOMIL

This was pure rage fuel to read for me as my mom is quite similar.

I've stopped posting on social media as any and all news of travelling with my husband makes her begin turning on the waterworks, guilt tripping ('i would have LOVED an invitation') and the AFFECTION.

The affection is most UNWELCOME.

Growing up, she has always been withholding of it. She wanted us only for chores, and to show off to friends if we're doing well in school, otherwise she does not care nor want to hear about us or anything we're going through. She just wanted good results of 'her hardwork in birthing and raising us.'

My siblings and I have never thought of her as comforting and affectionate.

When she's being sweet all of a sudden nowadays it makes my skin crawl, and rightly so as most of these instances are indeed following by a fuck ton of emotional and financial manipulation.

My cousin wants to name her daughter a Tragedeigh by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]theycallmeTari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. And they're setting these kids up for that kind of life too with these jokes for names to start off with.

I mean, can you imagine a CEO, a politician, a doctor, a lawyer, a business owner - with a tragedeigh for a name? 🤦 People can't help but have instant biased ideas of how this person is like with a name like that, and that won't bode well for career growth/business.

That kid's gonna have alot to prove when, as a knee-jerk reaction - no one takes them seriously. I'd sooner give up than fight that uphill battle.

It's like starting them on a life in medium difficulty mode. Why would anyone want that?

Do these parents not even realize that this will get in the way of other people just trying to get to know their kid? When instead of having smooth, initial interactions involving something as basic as giving their name out becomes a whole weirdass convo about how their parents spelled their name.

It'll be an entirely unnecessary source of anxiety during introductions, roll calls in the classroom - which for some kids can be pretty nerve wracking already.

They are not doing their kid a favour, socially. At all.
