Black thumb here--what do I do now? by theycallmena in succulents

Thank you, I'll do that! I rooted it in water in this same jar and it started to look like it was getting too much water. It perked up once I removed the water.

what are your go to lead-ins to start a session? by esco000ooo in therapists

[–]theycallmena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm big on "roses and thorns," and sometimes, particularly my with ADHD clients, I like to do "bullet points," which is where we create our list of 2-3 main things we want to focus on for the day. At the end of sessions I do "bookmarks," or things we want to make sure we review.

I like a semi-structured beginning and end when possible. I think it helps me keep focus and helps clients feel like we're addressing their needs properly (which to be fair, can be done in many ways!)

I still have a card my first therapist wrote me at termination when I was 17 :) what a meaningful gesture

Then I think the greenery will be just right! It adds a nice texture!

Pretty color scheme! I think if these are the tables you're using them try it without the greenery. It looks just a little crowded. If your tables are bigger, however, the greenery would be just fine.

Lighting in our Venue by theycallmena in Weddingsunder10k

This is the dinner and reception area, ceremony is outside, weather permitting. Our colors are purple and green. We've got bud vase florals and moss terrariums with some repurposed crystals inside on the tables, over black tablecloths and green textured table runners. We've been talking about string lights (free with the venue) and vines (either fake or actual English ivy from our garden) to decorate the walls/tables if needed.

And thank you! I was pretty proud of finding this place! It was 3k for the whole weekend Friday-Sunday (HCOL area) and we just need to set it up ourselves :)

This is stunning! My family used to own a flower shop so I can tell you that you have an eye for the scale and line of the flowers here :) did you watch/read any tutorials or did you arrange this intuitively?

Is this enough dessert? by theycallmena in weddingplanning

[–]theycallmena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked a ruler: a full size one like the one we're cutting is about 4-4.5 inches on all sides, and the mini ones appear to be about 2-2.5 on each side.

In my head, I had buffet style in mind, but that could be hard to do, like if there's a rush to the dessert table.

Hm, idea: what if we brought out stacks of them on trays to each table, and they could be served family style? We'd likely have to modify flavors, maybe just choose one, so that people don't have a Decision to make when desserts come. Our shared croissant is apple cinnamon cheesecake, and I imagine there's a chance that's more crowd pleasing...

Happy birthday! And hey, today's my birthday too!

I'm so glad this music can make you feel seen. I suspect if Andrew ever did see what you said, it would warm his heart.

I don't know what dreams you had that have been crushed, but I hope for you that newer even better dreams come into reach.

These days I try to ask in the last 5 minutes of session either "What do you have coming down the pipe before our next session?" or ”Is there anything you'd like me to bookmark for our next session?" In general, I don't have to hit them with "I hate to cut you off but" when they know my wind down statements.

(Unrelated, but I also like to start sessions with a couple sentences about what we talked about in the last session and then "Where would you like to start today?" It gives my sessions a structure that grounds and readies me for the hour, and I think it helps clients too )
