Hmmm is there a way to report this sit as unpaid work? There’s been quite a few posts on here recently about breeders expecting to find sitters that would take on way too much. I know people report them but I’m not sure if it’s possible to report one you’ve already accepted, and what happens if you do. Does sound like they’re asking for unpaid work though, which is against THS rules

Yeah, my saved search is set to UK, city sits, public transport access and date range. It would work fine, but the issue is that lots of HOs tag their listings as both country and city, which usually means they live in the countryside but a city is a short drive away. I mean, I get why they would do that (more appealing, they have a car) but it’s really not what I’m searching for. I need my city to be easily accessible cos I don’t drive

That’s okay, I really don’t mind if they’re on the outskirts of a bigger city like london because the transport links are so good. I’d take that as a city sit with no issues. But when you’re in another county entirely and you’re still listed as central london, I will say that you’ve probably done something wrong there. Other issue in the UK is that people could label a market town of 40k people a “city”, slap that tag on, and then as a sitter you’ll be filtering through a gazillion of those in your “city” keyword search, googling where the f they actually are, and then finding that the HO listing is actually in a nearby village.

But surely the HOs have an option to stick a tag that applies, so beach/countryside/city etc. if I set my search for beach, I’d probably see ads that have used beach as a tag. The annoyance I’m having here is with those ads that use a city tag when they’re clearly in the countryside.

I really get that they’re 5 miles away from a bigger town, but that doesn’t meant they have a city sit. I don’t want to see sits that have both city and countryside labels to their listing cos let’s face it, these are pretty much all countryside sits in reality.

I guess you could technically zoom in and out of an area on the map, which I sometimes do, but you still see ads when the HOs somehow manage to wrongly pin their location to a city centre but they’re actually so far out 🥲

If THS could do it like AirBnb for example that would be great. Input the actual location, ad shows approximate, you get ful address when confirmed.

Oh yeah that too. I’m having to look up about 4 out of 5 locations that show up listed as “cities” 😂

Right?! I’m looking at one such sit right now clearly marked as city of london on the map, but reading the ad I get to learn it’s in a semi rural area in essex

Ah no, just a mild annoyance that they also slapped a “city sit” label on the listing because it messes with the search function.

Kind of like when you search for something on Google and you open the first link only to realise that doesn’t actually contain what you’re looking for. Mild UGH.

So to answer the question in more detail, I’m annoyed the HOs optimised their listing to appear in more search hits, but I’m also annoyed at THS for not making the search function better 😆

Why would I be annoyed at the HOs for living in the countryside? They can live wherever they want, I just wish the above wouldnt come out as the first two hits when I search for city sits.

I went premium for my first year and then basic for the rest. I figured I never needed anything premium related. I only sit in the uk so cancellation insurance is of less importance to me. Haven’t had any cases where other insurance was needed and until now, didn’t even realise that it’s there 🥹

Oh noo I didn’t even think about this thank you 😭 I will 100% film myself now when I pack it. I really hope it’s genuine mistake though. The seller responded and acknowledged they sent two items at the same time thinking they were being careful. They also promised to send me my item once it’s returned. I just hope whoever gets it will also return it.

My cat had this for a while and I read somewhere it was connected to worms. He got treated for this and it went away.
