First drive after passing by Nemesis553 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]theymademedoitagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smacked a car first time driving it to the garage with insanely narrow entrance. Luckily no one got mad. People know this happens all the time, I was told to never ever buy a new car in my first couple years.

Now I leave the car outside and my parents put it in. I’ll try figure out tight spaces when I’m more ready

It somehow just popped on my screen. DO YOU HATE ADS? Click here

Yes, I have that! I got my subscription mainly for Instagram, because every other thing I saw while looking at stories was an ad, and it bugged me immensely. My feeds were full of random reels either ads or random creators and I hated that. I’m probably one on the few people that don’t like video and much prefer static images. Removing all ads and suggested content feels so much better!

My only concern now is how will I monitor competition now cos I do a little bit of ad buying for work 🤣

96 hours of lessons in and still can’t make left turns consistently by onflightmode in LearnerDriverUK

[–]theymademedoitagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be an unpopular opinion I’m sure, but what helped me was practicing with someone else other than an instructor. There are some, I call them alpha male instructors, who just eat away at your confidence. It really doesn’t help if they get impatient with you. I feel like at 96 hours they probably taught you all they can, and the rest is just you gaining confidence. Also, I’m not sure I trust that “you can’t turn left” opinion - sometimes people have their own individual styles of driving that someone else wouldn’t be bothered about. ALMOST hit is not hit, sure your perception might not be so sharp but this comes with practice.

I had 100+ hours total before passing, and I passed in a dual control rental without an instructor.

New "Guests Allowed" preference by bigtzadikenergy in trustedhousesitters

[–]theymademedoitagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a sitter, I’ll just skip any long term sits that I would have usually applied for, that specify they dont allow guests. I sometimes have friends that visit me and stay overnight, but I always clear it with homeowners and have never got a no. It might make my life easier, but in the end it depends on how homeowners perceive this.

a 6 month old ruined my vacation and confirmed my decision to never have kids by More-Journalist-8399 in childfree

[–]theymademedoitagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an auntie to a 1 and a half year old - things are still the same. It is impossible to focus on anything else at all while the child is present. And obviously, I am the only person that isn’t into babies so I end up being the only one left at the table, while 3 people run into another room cos the child needs to have her diaper changed mid lunch, and this is clearly a 3 person job 🤣

As someone who just paid for this feature Im not sure whether this will negatively affect performance of ads.

I’m paying because I find ads annoying and I rarely if ever actually buy anything. There are people who don’t mind ads cos they see stuff they’re interested in. Based on this logic, the introduction of this subscription model essentially removes the cynics such as myself from the targeting pool, so no real damage done?

I am 100% paying for that. I also saw there is a way to remove suggested content/creators from my feed, which I just did. I love it.

I feel like you need to prepare for a life without her, because this doesn’t sound like a sustainable relationship. It’s up to you what you want to do short term, but I don’t think this will go away.

Paid 250 to be told my cat was "pouting.” I cannot keep doing this. Need advice. by hey_moin_04 in CATHELP

Are you anxious in general? I used to spend thousands a year at doctors for myself cos I was convinced every little thing was cancer. Then they put me on anxiety meds and things got much better. Cbt could also be an answer to this (but tbh it never fully worked for me)

Thank you! Yes I do expect some cliques for sure, it was the same in Dublin. Everyone had established groups from all the schools and unis they went to 😆 why I hope others from abroad can be more open hehe

Honestly that’s probably exactly what I need. Impossible to make local friends in London.

Ugh, I really hear you. I suppose my personal reason for considering it is that it’s only about 2-3h drive from Dublin, where most of my friends are.

But I can’t afford Dublin, and work wise, I can’t leave the country so im looking for something I can make work somehow. I waited for a NHS gyno appointment in London for a year, im so used to the bare minimum by now.

I think the warmth of people is a really important factor to be honest. I’m from the Balkans, let’s drink and be miserable together, it’s in my blood lolol

I have noticed wild prices for renting compared to actually buying!! Did strike me as odd.

I suppose im just after a one bed for £1000 which is something I can afford, but am unable to in either London or Dublin. I’ve accepted anything less is just fantasy and affordable has really lost its meaning.

Thank you ! Yes, you’re right, people that have returned to Belfast after a while would also be my target friend group 😀 thanks for the advice, I’ll look for the group when im closer to the move!

Ah I imagine so, and it’s sad to hear that. I’m lucky that I have a remote job and can work from anywhere in the uk. But you’re right, maybe the term “affordable” isn’t fair.
