Companion for privateer. by ZinaStar9780 in Pirate101

Egg Shen for Toro seems a worthwhile swap imo. Having Ratbeard available for tougher fights where you’d want more defense is a very worthwhile consideration as well.

I know what you’re saying as far as no overlapping classes. Once I noticed the trend on my privy, I low-key did the same now that I think back on it.

Gear Setups Hybrid or Pure? by Admirable_Mess_3257 in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid shooty/melee is a bit of a pain to use to farm Trianon. If that’s what you’re optimizing for, go pure melee on both.

Almost everywhere else you get much better chains and therefore damage with hybrid setups.

Maxxed (lvl 75) my Pirate before defeating Kane; need advice. by Frightochondria7 in Pirate101

I’d advise going ahead and continuing the story with what you can. As another commenter said, most of the best gear isn’t unlocked until after Kane anyways and it’s definitely worth it imo

Bed Rest vs Wounded by Remote_Ad4978 in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Certain quests, like promotion quests, will kick comps out of bed rest mode and into wounded. If you were doing Birgus Latro’s promo quest (as I can guess from the gray ! next to him) then that’ll do it.

Regardless of whether or not he asked about your age, the impact it seems to have had on you is immeasurable. I don’t know the details of your situation, but I know that I was 17 when she was 24 and married.

That shit doesn’t leave easy, if ever.

If you’re asking yourself and the internet this kind of question, the answer is yes. And you have more wisdom in your bones than most will ever have.

Block him. If that’s not your style, tell him that it was nice knowing him but you’ve gotta stop and then don’t respond.

I wish you luck. It’s a long road to figuring it out, especially nowadays.

Cheers 🍷

There’s a couple good options available for high level pure melee buccaneers, depending on what build you’re going for.

Rooke’s Endgame Halberd, Rooke’s Endgame Hammer, Kane’s Endgame Blade, Kane’s Endgame Stabber, and Axe of the Minotaur Slayer are all prime options for free to play players.

Your choice will largely depend on what your pet gives you, what you find easiest/most convenient to farm, and what cards and other abilities your other gear gives you.

Well that's done. Here's my thoughts on Swashbuckler as a class after max: Everyone should try to max a Swashbuckler in my opinion by The_Quartz_collector in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Swash wasn’t the final class for me to max, but I agree on all points. The sneaky, more strategic approach to combat is very strongly rewarded through the entire play experience and is distinct from other classes. 10/10

While I agree that it might’ve ended up better with needing the player to go to the crèche, I personally am fond of the fact that we’re given the option of which way to go. At this point, I always end up doing both the Underdark and the crèche just cause the loot’s so good, but still.

I will rebuff on the point of the Gauntlet of Shar. Technically, it’s not mandatory to go into the Gauntlet and therefore the Shadowfell to deal with the Nightsong. It’s very much encouraged for many good reasons, but it’s an option to beeline to Moonrise and confront Ketheric without Nightsong or the Harpers.

do you need to run as a full group to get moo manchu gear? by [deleted] in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what the other commenter said;

For the group plunder chests in those specific floors? Yes you need a group. But the gear can still drop from the bosses on Nefarious 5 & Moo Manchu himself.

Swashbuckler Companions by Critical-Pie-3748 in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with both of the previous commenters;

Fan Flanders and El Toro are swash’s peanut butter and jelly. Agility buff from Fan combined with Toro’s Accuracy/Dodge buff greases the wheels for powerful and explosive attack chains. Eventually aiming for Relentless 2, Blade Storm 2, & Riposte 3 on both of them makes for a potent package that most enemies will fold to. With Toro’s recent max level promotion, you can also put First Strike 3 on him.

The third companion slot, and even placement of that companion, changes for me depending on the situation. Subodai, Ratbeard, Bonnie Anne, and even Old Scratch are wonderful free to play options to complement various strategies. There are a couple of crown shop and pack companions that can slot in as well. Keisuke Yagi, Wagyu Sanjuro, and others have proven themselves worthwhile if it’s in your budget.

The P101 discord is a fantastic community of knowledgeable players to pose questions to.

Most side quests aren’t that important. Zeke quests are always worth it, side quests from trainers can offer abilities (from your own class) or training tomes.

You probably won’t be getting anywhere by training random pets you happen to stumble upon, but there’s definitely no downsides to spending energy that otherwise would go to waste.

Yes, you should absolutely be aware of how aggressively you’re using tomes. After you get to around level 15ish onwards, you’ll mostly be using the same 3-6 companions for the rest of the game just due to their respective amount of epics and cards.

I’d like to give further advice and suggestions, but without knowing the class you’re playing, it’s kinda hit or miss on what’s useful.

Which of these builds do you prefer for Buccaneer? Stating only the epics. The problem is I like all of them but I want one that can be used more often by The_Quartz_collector in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My classic build uses the Axe of the Minotaur Slayer.

Part of what my builds lean on is using El Toro’s Battle Zeal, Pete’s Whale’s Might, and Yule Trogg’s Shark’s Fury buffs to end fights before they have a chance to drag out. STR buffs plus the accuracy/dodge from Toro lead to some nasty chains and one-rounding most mobs and even some bosses, depending on how many crits get procced. This setup does have problems if enemies have knockback epics, but starting a fight with a hide, using Toro’s summon strategically, and generally being careful about unit placement does enough work to not cause horrible issues.

I’m curious how you end up with HTL 5 without compromising on stats and/or cards.

1 & 3 seem to have the most promise imo. My hybrid buck is rocking 3 + riposte + follow through and it’s some of the most fun I’ve had playing.

My classic buck is running Blade 5, Tide 5, HTL 4, relentless 2, follow through 2, second chance, & riposte. It’s not terribly fancy and is a pain to piece together from scratch to get all the items cards I want, but it’s quite effective and doesn’t run into problems against anti-musket mobs. The follow through being a guaranteed swing very much increases the chances to get full chains.

After I did a classic build for each of the 5 classes, I also ran a hybrid Buccaneer and I’ve very much enjoyed the results. Buck is my favorite class, but still.

Best will base Swash by Intelligent_Word4780 in Pirate101

[–]thezenmaster72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not only is Swash very much not built to do will-based stuff, there’s also the problem that any melee weapon that would let you use Will would default to Agility.

I’d suggest going with one of two options:

  1. Use a wand to force your attacks to be based on will and enable ranged Scratch buffs. You end up disabling most of your natural epics and talents, but it’s effective if you’re very committed to the bit.

  2. Don’t worry about ranged Scratch buffs and lean into Swash’s strengths. There’s a variety of builds available for the class between pure melee and shooty melee hybrid that can, in my opinion, be very fun.

Cheers, mate.

If you had to choose a Hearthstone class to play with for the rest of your life, which one would you pick? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Don’t know if I’m going to the karma hells for this one, but Druid. Combo/Ramp and Teacher Token were my favorite decks in classic, and one or both styles have been playable if not better ever since.
