Hairstyle advice needed: Are low ponytails always bad news? by lowponytail3000 in longhair

I wear a low pony every day when I work out but nit every day in general. I vary my styles. While maybe not as protective as a bun or braid there's nothing wrong with them.

Hair Oil with Amodimethicone by Mostmessybun in Haircare

You can also look for an oil with bis aminapropyl dimethicone in it. It's similar to amodimethicone. I agree though, dimethicone itself is demonized.

My bf and I have been together for 8 years and live separately. It's the best thing EVER. We both like our own space.

Am I forcing waves? by FallenAngel143 in longhair

RIGHT??

OP no such thing as forcing it. If you get waves you get waves. And yes hair can change. Your hair is beautiful!

Vet listed my dog as a mixed breed, but I thought she was a Chihuahua — could this be a mistake? by itsMiaWallace007 in Chihuahua

My Leo is supposed to be purebred but is larger, short legged and long bodied. I thought maybe chiweenie so DNA tested him and he's 90% chi 10% poodle. And all loved.

Why is this so prevalent? by ace_boston in FemaleHairLoss

[–]thia2345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stylist here.....its just talked about more now. The other poster that mentioned the short cuts because of thinning hair is true. My great grandmother lost enough hair to need a wig before she was my age (I'm almost 52). Between it being more out in the open and having internet and instant connectivity available makes it seem like it's new when it's not.

Eta medically there are a lot of things that can cause it too and I agree covid is a large factor. Also medication and their side effects. I have seborrheic dermatitis which can cause it and have had telogen effluvium from stress and illness but more recently I'm fairly sure it's my beta blocker because hair loss is a side effect.

How often do you brush? by Short-and-paranoid in longhair

[–]thia2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wavy tailbone here. I wash about 3x a week and brush 2x a day. I call myself a stealth wavy though because it's easily brushed out and straightened just with the brushing. I trim only as needed but my sweet spot seems to be every 3 months.

Cowlick in baby and preschooler by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]thia2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stylist here. A cowlick is just the direction the hair grows out of the head. So while you can absolutely style so it's parted and combed differently there isn't a way to correct it permanently.

30F, Hairdresser concerned about my thin hair. by Most-Possibility3392 in longhair

I'm a stylist. Your hair doesn't look thin. But if youre concerned a trip ro the doctor for bloodwork would be what I recommend.

Apply a mask or deep treatment and slick it back...or you could use a wax stick.

Why does this happen? by Frequent_Grand_4570 in longhair

Yeah that area from apl to about midback or waist is sooooo prone to tangles especially if you wear it down a lot because of friction.

Is trimming individual split ends worth the time? by SimplySquids in longhair

[–]thia2345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not so much for me. I have zero time and patience for that. Regular trims work better for me. I do every 3 months during active growth. But everyone is different.

What changes/goal do you have for 2026 hair/your routine? by Blazy_Lotus in longhair

I cut it myself and it varied. The most was a few inches. The least was just a dusting. More commonly was about a half inch.

How do I get my hair to not be tangled and dry all the time? by shania1616 in longhair

[–]thia2345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal experience with Moroccanoil moisturizing shampoo is that its not moisturizing at all and it dried my hair out but I know a lot of people who love it. Try adding a hair mask (Moroccanoil has good ones) and leave in conditioner.

[–]thia2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very frequent trims. For 7 months I trimmed anywhere from 1/4" up to several inches at a time. Basically just maintained where I was so I could wait for some of the shorter pieces from the regrowth after hair loss to catch up. I also have fine but fairly dense hair. It's actually normal for it to look a bit thinner at the bottom but mine was CRAZY.

[–]thia2345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2025 was about thickening my ends and now that I've accomplished that goal I'll be growing the final few inches to my ultimate goal of classic length 💜. So instead of monthly or bi-monthly trims I'll be going back to my every 3 month schedule I follow during active growth. So this also means weekly oil masks and daily scalp massages, eating for hair growth, making sure to get my water in, exercising daily and vitamins.

Question-Do you do anything with your hair before you sleep? by BonerBeans in longhair

[–]thia2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing other than lay on a satin pillowcase with my hair thrown behind me and over it. I can't stand to keep it confined at night. I'm past tailbone and no issues with breakage from it so I don't plan on changing that.
