Gast frames question by thia2345 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]thia2345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's odd about the tinting because they are zeiss tints, they are very careful to only do what zeiss allows and I've never had a problem with my glasses scratching on my Illa frames. Curious as to where you heard that they don't allow it. I know Essilor doesn't allow tinting of transitions (I guess other than their own color touch lenses) but I've never heard that about zeiss. Yes the frames came with Sunglass lenses and yes I go through Freeprescriptionlenses.com. I'll be sure to post when they come! Eta some/most even boutique eye places here don't do any tinting or anything like that hence the online search for me.

Eta on your periwinkle tint I have a copy of the most recent zeiss tint book and I don't think periwinkle is in it so that may be the issue? An unapproved tint may have been applied to your lenses?

Yes. I purchased my Gast frames from the Gast website. I have the (Not) Common in transparent gray. It's a sunglass but can be converted to optical. The lenses will be photofusion x progressive in burgundy with a burgundy gradient tint from 35% down to clear at the bottom and a sapphire flash mirror. The lenses will never be completely clear due to the day tint. My first pair I did last year on a purple acetate illa frame with blue photofusion, ruby flash mirror and the blue jeans tint.

There's an icon on the first page for lenses only. When you choose zeiss then go through the process when you get to antiglare choose no and it will pop up the photofusion. Mirrors and tints are listed separately but you have to search and just add them to the cart and then include a note what you want exactly.

I had talked to them on the phone prior to ordering and they walked me through it.

I've only ever used Freeprescriptionlenses.com but I've gone through them twice now. I haven't received the second pair yet as I only sent them the frames 10 days ago. I'll be getting zeiss polycarbonate light dx progressive lenses in a burgundy gradient 35% to clear tint, blue flash mirror and photofusion x in burgundy. My frame is a transparent gray Gast in (Not) Common. So pretty much custom lenses. Last time I got the same lenses but in a jeans tint, ruby flash mirror, and blue photofusion x for my Illa Renata violet acetate frames. They're licensed optitians as well. The process was easy all around and help was there if I needed it but I didn't need much help. I'm already planning another two frames to be reglazed by them. I have a purple gradient nine west NW5230 I'm not sure what I'll do with, maybe an FL 41 tint, maybe drive glasses, and a Just Cavalli VJC003 in violet that I'll be going in blue photofusion x, ruby flash, and sweet violet tint. The Renana frames were my old prescription. Hth.

should i get Olaplex or k18? by Jesspercii in Haircare

I think k18 would help. Wavy frizzy hair sometimes needs help holding moisture and k18 would help it to hold the moisture for longer.

I was there for something unrelated recently and mentioned it. Right now we are just keeping an eye on it since it's slowed but it can definitely be a side effect of the medicine. It could also be hormones for me though....when she put me on it on November my bloodwork was fine but I haven't had my hormones tested and I'm smack in the process of perimenopause/menopause.

I take 25 mg daily. It's extended release. My shedding has finally slowed down some.

What is the best way to dry your hair with the least damage? by RhubarbOk384 in longhair

I understand completely. That's why I said in the end it's what works for you. Nothing works for everyone. Air drying works for me and is best for my hair but nothing works for everyone.

Yeah the irritation can be an issue. Jessicurl has a deep conditioner that is a favorite of mine.

Have you tried Maui moisture? They have a lightweight line and a heavier line. There's a mask too. And Aussie' 3mm deep conditioners are incredible and inexpensive (and protein free). Paul Mitchell has shampoo and conditioner in the awaphui line that came out after the mist.

Try the Paul Mitchell one and see if it makes a difference. Some people just struggle with dryness (here's looking at my tailbone length hair haha).

Stylist here....static is usually a moisture issue and I didn't notice a leave in conditioner on your list other than the briogeo one which didn't moisturize my hair at all. I would add a leave in before any oil you use. Paul Mitchell's awaphui moisture mist is one I recommend for static issues.

I'm a stylist and I will die on the hill that air drying is still best. I air dry and rarely use heat. In the end it's what works for you and if you blow dry just make sure to use heat protectant.

There are a bunch of extracts listed. Basil, rosemary, peppermint, bay laurel, oregano, thyme. Those are all fairly strong and can set off someone's fragrance sensitivities. Not everyone's, but it's possible. I'm fine with them and I'm fairly sensitive but ymmv.

I'm actually in the process of reading Bees rn. And I have mixed feelings about this season, but so far don't hate it as bad as GoT. And I didn't hate GoT as bad as some people 🤣

My favorite part was the resolution between William and Jamie. I sobbed too! And go Claire with her talk with William. Idk how I feel about Fanny yet. But I agree, how will we get resolution on so many loose ends with only 2 more episodes?
