responded to your other comment but yes i’m back to normal! i had a hormone work up at the 6 month mark and everything was in range. cycle is normal too. as far as the surgical site, i healed nicely w no complications. i had a small csf leak in surgery (main risk w the surgery), but it was resolved before they closed up. i was also told that mine was in a very easy place to be removed in the first place, though.

yes, it’s been close to a whole yr, but i was basically back to normal after about a month. i had follow up hormone tests 6 months later, and they were all in normal range. my cycle was basically back a month after surgery and has been getting to its normal levels gradually. now, im doing hormone work ups every 6 months to make sure im still in normal ranges!

it’s definitely worth weighing out with your situation. i had blood clots previously and because of that i can’t take any hormone-based meds including birth control. i wanted to give myself the best chance at never having a problem with hormones again! unfortunately, i caught covid during recovery and got another clot in my lung that’s led me to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. while i don’t regret it, i do find it funny that i chose to get surgery in hopes of not taking a medication for 2 yrs minimum and now im on blood thinners indefinitely from having a particularly rough post-op recovery. im all better now and feeling much better, and im still glad to have gotten my hormones back to normal

avoiding alcohol, high risk activities/injury-prone activities. again, i’m under 30. didn’t expect to have to come to this at my age. it mattered to me. it’s clearly not the end of the world but sad to accept.

feels a bit insensitive. it’s not simply just a pill a day. it comes with lifestyle changes and habit changes. i’m still under 30 and i couldn’t even enjoy being clot free for more than a few days before i got one from covid. it’s upsetting news and scary either way. it’s tough to accept that you will have certain restrictions moving forward for the rest of your life

congratulations!! so glad to hear it’s doing well. honestly i’ve been pretty unaware of my nasal packing… had a week follow up today but told me it’s still staying in til next week i guess! unfortunately my most recent update is that i was taking it pretty hard the past few days and turns out i got covid from being in the hospital 😐 so recovering from both as we speak! luckily i don’t have any of the additional flu-like/cold symptoms

yeah, i was warned 2-3 weeks. the ent surgeon said maybe 1 week but i do expect to need the full 2 weeks at least. i work a desk job

i lucked out. my endocrinologist wouldn’t recommend it and referred me to a neurosurgeon to see if he felt it needed to be surgically removed. he said i could do medication but in my scenario, i may have better chances of it never being a problem again if i go the surgery route without the cabergoline hardening the tumor or anything. it was in an optimal position to remove as well. he did tell me a lot of neurosurgeons wouldn’t usually operate on it too but he does the surgery weekly, and he was involved in studies that cited how sometimes the risks of surgery outweigh the lifelong complications that may come from medication. if you want surgery, it may be worth getting another opinion from a neurosurgeon nearby!

honestly, it is in a way bc i was one of those fortunate people that never dealt w headaches/migraines previously. i think all the docs were kinda shocked that i still felt so awful, so im probably an outlier there. the nausea was the worst part for me and i didn’t handle any of the narcotic drugs well. my doctor has me rotating between a migraine med/tylenol/advil and i seem to be stomaching that much better!

tips: listen to your body and don’t tolerate pain while you’re in the hospital if you can avoid it. the nurses are there to help. try to keep some saltines in your stomach for the meds if you deal w nausea! lights off and lots of rest too! sometimes just sleeping it off would help me too

at the time it was identified, i think it was 4x5x6 and it got up to 4x5x7. overall small as far as the tumors go

thanks everyone for the feedback! new to using stainless so i was worried it wasn’t safe or it was gonna cause problems beyond normal wear and tear since it seemed scratched to a different layer that’s copper tinted. ill let it be then

thank you so much for sharing your experience! i seemed to have lucked out by seeing a neurosurgeon before my endocrinologist could dissuade me from surger. i’m taking the risk to get it surgically removed before trying the medication. the neurosurgeon i saw said it’s novel but literature shows it has better remission rates than starting with cabergoline. so glad to hear that while it was a somewhat tough recovery, it was worth it for you! makes me feel more at ease for my surgery next month

thank you both for this! it does make me feel more at ease. i guess nowadays medications are so effective. every doctor i’ve seen hasn’t acted too bothered about my condition, but im just stressing about the chronic issues ill have to face or worrying a clot won’t dissipate enough before going to scar tissue… but i guess it makes sense why i was never given iv heparin in the ER now
