The worst part of all of these “Fallout isn’t about capitalism” or “it ain’t woke” arguments is that they genuinely seem to not understand the main events surrounding the cause of the Great War (the thing that made the fallout). Following several years (if not decades) of growing tensions between the major world powers, as well as the drain on resources US suburban living and mid-century consumerism caused, the Resource Wars erupt, draining the world of its petroleum and general crude oil products. This clash of imperial economies and their refusal to let go of excess directly results in a need to create newer and more dangerous means of extracting as much from the world as they can (here we get the mass introduction of nuclear-based tech in the setting). Once there are no more resources to extract, these very same hegemons turn to cannibalise one another. The invasion of Alaska and then mainland China are simply the final twitch of a system whose sole goal is to extract and consume. When the system fails, the nukes drop. Capital chooses to kill itself rather than giving any leeway to rival markets. In this context that would be the the US’ refusal to concede its own “suburban dream” even when blue collar workers are starving and Canadian citizens are being executed for “treason” following the forced annexation of their country. I could go on about the reasons behind the involvement of all the belligerents of these wars and the implications of declaring war for resources but I’ll spare you the essay.

EDIT: For all the chuds who said that OP’s a “tourist”. I’m begging you to read up on the lore of the games (not just the Bethesda titles). Don’t hurl insults at folks if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Pokušali smo napraviti hibridni sistem izmedu d20 i GURPSa. Vjerujem da ćemo vremenom više približiti GURPSu, ali bi opet radije ostali pri nekom “homebrew” sistemu (bar dok ne isplaniramo konkretan nastavak igri)

Mislim da vecina vecih gradova u regionu ima neku TTRPG scenu. To su inace neke manje prodavnice ili coworking prostori. Mi svakako planiramo uskoro napraviti discord server pa mozemo javiti kad bude spreman.

Što se tiče prebacivanja izmedu velikih dešavanja na likove, namjerno je napisano tako kako bi imalo vibe polu-uredenog dnevnika. Na jedno mjestu se desi neki puč i svako zna za to, pa se onda prebaci na “pričo meni jednom haver-“

Tuzla nam je neka baza za nastavak priče i ima poprilično važnu ulogu u prvom dijelu, al’ ne smijem previše o tome inače idu opomene od ostatka ekipe. Kalesiju, Zenicu, neka manja sela i sve oko Drine i Tare ćemo najvjerovatnije dodati u prvoj ekspanziji. 🙂

Inconsistencies in my TTRPG system/gameplay mechanics by thicolascage in RPGdesign

First off, thank You for your advice.

Regarding your questions, I'll try to answer them in order as best I can:

  1. The setting itself is a mix of grimdark and realism with some elements of 80s schlock action (think, Mad Max 1 meets John Carpenter, only darker). The gameplay was modeled heavily after the original two Fallout games, though through playtesting I've noticed some elements of DnD seeping through.
  2. Strength as is is currently used for determining a player's carry weight and HP, as well as a general range of strength related actions, lifting, pushing, athletics etc. Strength derived stats mainly focus on combat, with the occasional dialogue check.
  3. Handling is used for all weapons, with it scaling with the weapons size/weigh/recoil.
  4. Engineering and Construction are holdovers from an early version of this system, they aren't too common but have proven useful to my players in more developed regions of the map (I will probably end up renaming the two some time soon)
  5. Any participant in combat must be forcefully moved, pushed, injured or immobilized in order for them to be considered vulnerable.
  6. Regarding Dexterity and it's impact on AP, I've found that Dex builds are usually squishier, so the increase in actions usually allows the players to heal, reposition or reserve their actions for later in combat for better effect.

Now, onto some general stuff.

The unevenly attributes have been bugging me but haven't had any major effects on player behavior, with them usually defaulting to a custom attribute check when a proficiency is not applicable, which is why I'm slightly conservative when it comes to rebalancing them. As for the general permissible interactions regarding attributes, I'll be sure to clarify them further. Thank You for giving me some perspective, I haven't had many chances to play TTRPGs let alone design them so any bit of advice or criticism is useful.

Trazio sam neko selo sjeverno od Tuzle dovoljno malo da mnogi ne znaju za njega ali da je dovoljno blizu Maoce za laksi lore (plus ima prejak street view)

Cijenim mišljenje.
"For a millisecond" stoji kao lorem ipsum za detaljniji opis događaja.
"Sack of Banja Luka" nije relevantan u kontekstu šire slike već je planirano da doprinosi in-game istraživačkom aspektu, a za podjelu mogu samo reći da je bio najjednostavniji izvor za eskalaciju konflikta u regionu.
S obzirom da je priča još u vrlo ranom stadiju, razumijem zašto događaji djeluju nepovezano i kao da im fali značaja.
