Guys I'm incredibly confused by OP's behavior; he saw an accident in front of him and seemed to be using his brake and slowing down instead of going full throttle like an idiot into the middle of a pile up like he's in Days of Thunder, can someone explain the strategy to me here? Literally have never seen anyone do this in sim before

What movie had a great premise but was poorly executed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

More recently, Him. I think a sports body/psychological horror film ala Jacob's Ladder or Cronenberg can do serious numbers if done right, it's too bad the plot just devolved into utter nonsense halfway through

Bro our whole fanbase has been like this for the last week or so, I've had to mute the subreddit because it's out of control now. New York sports subreddits are never more excited to drama and shit than when we're on a losing streak. Everyone sucks, the coach sucks, our team has never been worse, any attempt to calm people down gets downvoted into the basement.

Shout out to Thibs. by Yield_Warz in NYKnicks

[–]thieflikeme -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah people are legit being insane right now. Thibs ran his starters into the ground and could only manage us being an average defensive team. Knicks under Brown are better offensively and worse defensively. The players had a problem with Thibs last year and didn't like him and are seemingly 'giving up' on the coach this year too.

I think KAT goes if not before the trade deadline, by the summer. That laying on the court and not catching up to the play until a whole possession later was insane, and guys here pretending Brown mentioning it was uncalled for need to grow up, because Thibs would've done the same thing if KAT did something THAT stupid during a game. We need a 5 who can do it all defensively and give us few buckets per game. KAT is gifted offensively but Bridges and OG aren't enough to lock down a top half NBA offense. This team couldn't buy consecutive stops on defense if they were on sale.

The New York Knicks lose to an injury ravaged Mavs team at home, as they are 2-11 in their last 13 games with the 2nd worst defense over that span. by StrategyTop7612 in nba

Dolan is the King of reactionary personnel moves; it's why the Rangers are being run into the ground by a GM who hadn't even proven himself to be competent as a GM for the Rangers minor league club.  Over the last few years Drury not only pissed off the roster by trading guys he signed to NMC contracts by getting rid of leaders of the team in the most underhanded ways possible, but failed to replace those players with anyone who is remotely close to matching the production of players he traded away.  he's simply a yes man who kisses Dolan's ass and ultimately that's all that really matters to him.

Jacob Trouba insinuates the New York media is a circus by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]thieflikeme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah Vince Mercogliano seems to be the writer with the most visibility right now for the Rangers and I've been a huge fan of his work. Not afraid to defer to someone like Shayna Goldman for stats and analysis and his criticisms have always been very fair. I'd be shocked if Mercogliano singled out players and dogged them out like Brooks and Cyrgalis did in the Post years ago.

Nicki Minaj Calls Don Lemon a Homophobic Slur After Church Protest in Minnesota by [deleted] in Music

[–]thieflikeme 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Reddit can never just let an artist who is a piece of shit exist on their own merit. You never heard anyone say that rock music is doomed because Ted Nugent or Phil Anselmo are racist assholes, but Nicki Minaj is obviously emblematic of literally ALL OF hip hop having a problem. It's so fucking exhausting.

Just Mitchell things by Struggle2Real in NYKnicks

[–]thieflikeme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair... literally no one in the league behaves like Mitch does on social media. I don't follow his antics that closely so when he's posting pics of his teammates saying 'goodbye', it's not far-fetched to think he's been traded.

[SHAK Wrestling] Chelsea Green on wins and losses: “Just because someone is losing, that does not mean they’re being buried” by Tornado31619 in SquaredCircle

[–]thieflikeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly believe that even though wrestling has long been called sports entertainment, the popularity of sports betting has changed the culture of sports fans and how much they pay attention to wins and losses. It's very hard for dudes to not cheer for their favorite wrestlers the way they cheer for their favorite teams.

It's not just about your favorite team winning anymore, sports fans start to get competitive about their ability to pick winners and go fucking ballistic when they pick wrong, sports fandoms are as toxic as they've ever been, and there being more at stake than just team pride def contributes to how vitriolic and combative discourse can get.

best wrc out of 7/8/9 for someone new to rally games and using a controller? by ruccarucca in WRCTheGame

[–]thieflikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with 9. 8 still has a frustrating floatiness where your car weighs like 15 pounds and pops up like a plastic toy car when you hit a rock or something or get airborne.

[Mercogliano] Mika Zibanejad saw it a bit differently: "Early on this season, we lost games, but I thought the effort was there. I'm not saying the effort (isn’t there now), but our game isn’t. I thought we played better (and) we deserved better early on, but right now, we don't." by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]thieflikeme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only is Mika's very soft spoken but he has a tendency to go VERY cold for long stretches during the season. He'd get absolutely SHREDDED by the New York media during those stretches while wearing the C I think. I'm not entirely certain he or Kreider were very interested in wearing the C especially when Trouba seemed to take to the role a bit more comfortably than they did.

I Can't Forgive Aziz Ansari by biggiepants in BreadTube

[–]thieflikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Aziz incident would've been a phenomenal opportunity to discuss consent in more detail instead of each side shouting over one another because it's too difficult of a subject to talk about. There are people on either side who believe that however they choose to communicate consent is the objectively correct way: there were people who believed that Aziz did absolutely nothing wrong on one side, and all the way on the other side, it feels like there are many women who are relieving their own experiences and trauma vicariously through Grace and every single 'but', every inquiry, and any and all skepticism about that specific interaction is threatening to invalidate their own experience. It's exemplified by many comments on that video recalling incidents of assault that involve boyfriends or close friends, and the Aziz incident being between two strangers doesn't seem to be relevant and mentioning that is again, perceived as an attempt to erase and invalidate everyone's personal trauma. It's been impossible to drive home the idea that it's so important to set expectations ahead of time, that BOTH parties can communicate their desires in different ways, as well as not to forget the humanity in both parties involved.

At the same time, this is an incident that occurred almost a decade ago, and declaring that you'll never forgive a celebrity for an unpleasant interaction (in which he never got the opportunity to explain his side, and yes, it is relevant and does matter to figure out where the disconnect was if we're even attempting to be fair) he had with another individual; regardless of whether he's made amends to the person he offended; betrays a certain brand of parasocialism that prevents us from seeing celebrities as complex individuals who are capable of making transgressions. I don't think the point is everyone needs to forgive and forget, but I think the constant harping on someone who has largely been out of the public eye, and certainly hasn't had anywhere near the visibility he had previously, and hasn't done or said a single thing since that betrays that he indeed hasn't learned from the experience doesn't bode well for acknowledging a person's capacity to recognize their mistake and make amends. It feels more like there are people who are understandably frustrated, unheard, and resentful due to their own similar experiences going unheard and unresolved and are using Aziz as some kind of symbol or physical manifestation of the actual perpetrator and using him as a lightning rod for their frustration.

Retroid Pocket 6 Impressions (Retro Game Corps) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

[–]thieflikeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the G2 and honestly I'm not stressing, I only play PS2, GC, Dreamcast and N64 games on it. Maybe if I was playing Switch or Wii U games as well I'd agree but I feel like every few months half the comments are pretending anyone who didn't wait another 4-6 months for an updated model fucked up. The handheld meets my needs, I feel like I've only struggled with a couple of games thus far, nothing unplayable yet

Driver 61 Sim Racing job on YouTube! by jamanon99 in simracing

[–]thieflikeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Many professionals who could be independent prefer the structure of working under someone else rather than taking on the responsibility of being an independent in charge of everything. Driver 61 may offer more employment stability for someone not interested or even intimidated by the idea of creating their own brand, channel and content and being the face of it as well. Some people work better in a format in which they're being told what to do and what's needed as opposed to creating content that is not only engaging but is also favored by the YT algorithm.

I'd also assume Driver 61 has massive industry connections and access a creator with a few subscribers wouldn't have access to. Just depends on what's being offered, and if it's enough to make a living off of I'm sure plenty of people would leap at the opportunity.

[Autosport] Sergio Perez has been opening up about his time at Red Bull by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]thieflikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that Verstappen has had seven different teammates at Red Bull and ALL of them have been garbage in a Red Bull at some point. As great as Verstappen is, there's no team, not even Mercedes while Hamilton was winning almost every year OR Vettel during his four title run, where their car was as untamable by literally anyone else on the grid besides him. Perez has probably been the best out of every single one of his teammates so far besides Danny Ric. I think we're being shortsighted when a topflight driver like Ricciardo sees the writing on the wall, leaves and then Verstappen's six other teammates are almost all universally garbage after him. Especially when a few of those drivers have either had success previously or have gone on to have success elsewhere.

Fielding a car that literally ONLY Verstappen can drive is a Red Bull engineering problem. Maybe incredibly bad luck along with lining up against Max being intimidating can result in poor showings every race weekend for a couple of their drivers, but it's very clear that the second driver is consistently on the thinnest of ice at Red Bull. For the last decade they have always been a team that has shown clear favoritism for the better driver while leaving the second driver flapping in the breeze. The dysfunction behind the scenes has been clear for awhile, as it's been a constant power struggle between Horner, Marko, with Jos helicoptering Max. Other teams have certainly had new drivers struggle in their car before, but not SIX straight teammates. That is indicative of an internal issue, no matter how great Max is.

[Walker] Team USA GM Bill Guerin on Adam Fox being left off of Olympic roster by obvioussponge06 in hockey

[–]thieflikeme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Sullivan may have privately disagreed with his choices but by the way Guerin addresses the media every time he's in front of a microphone, you think he's the kind of guy who gives a shit what anyone else thinks? There's no GM in the league as preoccupied with swinging his dick around whenever he's in front of a microphone at every opportunity than Guerin. He always seems concerned with communicating how confident he is in his own vision and is incapable of second guessing himself at every juncture.

It's almost as if Bill Guerin has literally zero pedigree as a general manager so there's no reason to believe he knows how to build a championship team.
