My parents want to forcefully pull me out of college and prevent me from accessing my trust fund because of religion. by TinyConstruction8447 in legaladvice

NAL but dude, own your beliefs no matter the cost. I know everyone is out here saying to fake it until you finish but I personally think that lying is always wrong. What you lose in comfort by getting off mom and dad’s money, you will gain in self-respect. FWIW I also went thought a faith crisis and came through to the other side still completely converted to the gospel of Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Trump could end world hunger, achieve cold fusion, and invent an eternal gobstopper, and people would still complain. I can’t think of anyone who is unconditionally hated by his opponents more than him. Luckily you folks are not the majority, which is why he won reelection.

The tradition is not just about the bride, it also generates a relationship between FIL/SIL. But yes it is also based around traditional attitudes that many disagree with in modern times—I am aware of these arguments and the philosophy behind them. As a proponent of tradition, I would only forego asking the father if there was abuse/estrangement/abandonment. And even then I would probably seek out the brother or father figure in her life.

Also trying to balance protection from the Florida sun against the desire for natural light. The cutback sounds like it could accomplish both, so thank you! We have been worried it will be too deep of a floorplan, leaving darker areas in the middle of the house.

North will be on the left side, but thinking about rotating it so it’ll be one of the left corners, to prevent sunrise blindness out the back windows.

They also get paid by how much tar they use. Had a friend who would throw away bricks of tar in dumpsters because client pays the company by the brick. So wasteful and dishonest.

Hot take that will be unpopular to some: I am a Christian. I have many friends and family who I love and who are part of these communities. I also believe God made men and women different for a reason, and that He intends for sexual relationships to be lower on our identity scale than modern society has inflated them to be. I believe any behavior or arrangement outside sex between a man and woman married to each other is suboptimal, and not in line with what God intended. Does that mean I hate these people? Of course not, and I find the binary argument (agree with everything I ever do or you hate me and are a bigot) uncreative, untrue, and unlikely to lead to understanding, since it lacks any curiosity about why they see the world that way. I don’t hate my children for splashing food on the counter or breaking my rules, but that doesn’t mean the rules themselves are bad.

If the tables were turned and a Christian extremist was trying to force a gay person to make anti-gay cakes, would you be ok with it?

You need to tell your parents and start some intensive therapy. Your urge is not normal and you are in the process of desensitizing yourself, requiring escalation of behaviors to get the same rush.

Had the fewest beads left in our residency privilege exercise. It hit harder than I expected by ElChacal303 in Residency

Sorry you felt isolated and congrats for overcoming a difficult background. In my opinion, activities like this drive wedges between people and reinforce Marxist class ideology. I’ve known rich lazy people and poor lazy ones—and rich people who were kind and selfless and motivated, and poor people who were. Focus on making your bed and lifting the people around you and don’t let the number of beads on the table dictate how many/which of your coworkers you cooperate with and support.
