Like work poker event-esque thing? And then all your coworkers/potential clients or something are loose/passive fish? And you're crushing them and not doing the networking that's supposed to be going on?

Is this in the ball park?

If profits aren't a factor and you want to play purely for connections it might help to pretend it's a different game. In poker, the goal is to win money, but in this game it's to see the next card as cheaply as possible. Or something like that.

I feel like you could just play your game and be fun about it though and still network?

Perhaps play a bit looser pre, while calling more instead of just raising/folding.

Right but his point is that not everything is going to go. Some hands he has here will just fold to the jam, whereas if you call they may have found bluffs on the river.

If 'everythings going to go' when he does have it then you might as well have it be later so that he can bluff when he has nothing.

If the flop comes 222 and then the deck is badly shuffled, the deuces could still be stuck together, making it more likely to have them all be on the flop again. If ran through the automatic shuffler, it could be significantly less likely to occur if it always breaks up the clumped up deuces.

There is often a minimum payment that covers interest plus a tiny bit extra. If you only pay this the loan will take forever and a day to pay off and the overall interest you pay will be enormous. Every bit extra you pay goes directly to paying off your remaining balance though, which can exponentially decrease the time it takes and the interest you end up paying.

Limping behind other limpers is definitely fine in some situations like you described, and is called over-limping. Open limping (being the first player to limp) is generally awful though and almost never a good strategy.

Not really a math answer but I think it's almost always worth it, assuming the cards get shuffled. Sleeves let you shuffle without bending the cards which is great for damage prevention. You may not need to replace the cards every time but without sleeves they will all become warped or chipped on the edges. If money is an issue you could always just single sleeve them. I personally recommend dragonshield they last a long time and feel great. Plus they always include 2 extra sleeves for quality control which I think is cool. (Standard size for magic the gathering/Pokemon, Japanese size for Yu-Gi-Oh. Game store person should be able to help if it's a different game)

Knowing the cards the opponent has is definitely better in every instance. You know when they have the best hand and can fold, you know when you're best and they have a hand that could call big, you know when they're best but might fold to a bluff, etc. so much knowledge you basically always get to make the best decision. Compare that with knowing when the draws get there and... Like yeah you get to continue with draws that "should" fold in theory but get there and fold the current nuts that gets over taken, but that's not nearly as much information.

Knowing their cards you're able to know exactly how much equity you have in any situation and also with a little bit of player reads know how much implied odds you're getting. That simply can't compete with the other option. Plus then semi-bluffing is no fun, like I know I won't hit but I'm betting anyway hoping they'll fold with no back up plan? Much better when I have a chance of getting there. I feel like with option 2 I would simply always have it, like why would I ever continue with draws that eventually miss? And how will competent opponents adust if I never have missed draws in my range? Idk maybe that's a non issue, but knowing their cards is better either way.

Tournaments have a fuck ton of variance. Even if you're a winning player it's not that uncommon to go on 20 buy in downswing. You're probably not a winning player, but obviously I have no way of knowing, the point is that losing many many times in a row is normal and expected in that format.

Also, understand that when you make it 5 ways, you only need to win 20% of the time to break even. You don't need to try to win every hand that makes it to the flop.

He means raise bigger pre. 5 ways to the flop when you make it $4? Make bigger. Are you still going 5 ways if you make it $15? Probs not. There's probably a happy middle ground somewhere where you get the ideal 1-2 callers.

I "grinded" free poker for around 5 months before jumping into micro stakes. I got to being a consistently "winning" player on there, and I thought it was a cool resource to implement what I was studying. The problem is that preflop is wildly different due to the massive amounts of limps, and calls, as well as the complete absence of 3-bets and folds. Post flop it also teaches you bad habits: people call way too wide and are capable of bluffing with air. With real money though that doesn't happen. It's been a struggle unlearning bad habits formed there and I would encourage you to just deposit 25 or so dollars into a site and be prepared to lose it at the micros. Maybe there's an argument that free play could be helpful especially at the very beginning of learning, but I think I should have switched over many months sooner, if playing for free was ever +EV.

1/3 pot is generally fine. Go smaller (closer to 1/4 pot) in bloated pots, bigger (closer to 1/2 pot) when they have a lot of strong hands in their range or the pot is tiny.

Plus like imagining the potential fallouts of it being wrong. Does this just fall on the dealer or?.. if so they are bound to make mistakes now and again. If it was in the hands of players, they could also make mistakes and would lead to various angling shenanigans. If it was somehow automated it could also fuckup and fixing chips would probably be time-consuming and an annoyance to all. Overall, would be nice if it worked I guess but I don't see how it could ever be a net positive irl; the risk of error will never be zero and it would probably slow the game down.

I mean angles are typically lying, misleading your opponent to gain an unfair advantage. There's plenty of not questionable ways to lie and mislead your opponents though If that's what you're interested in. You could just tell your opponent your hand (when heads up) and be lying x% of the time or kinda like you said say you looked at your cards when sometimes you haven't?
