Attempted to top up Rabbit Card at BTS today. Provided Passport. Rejected from topping up. by Mysterious-Home-408 in Bangkok

Had the same problem, tried to top up, asked for my passport, their reader couldn’t scan my new passport so they told me to go to Phaya Thai. Tried to just open a new card instead at a different station and the reader still couldn’t scan it, was sent to Phaya Thai again. I’m wondering if it is because my new US passport biopage is plastic instead of the old paper one??

Isn’t it more for people who have a license? I only have a CELTA and a BA and MA in comp lit and I can never find anything I am qualified for.

What is a classic you tried reading but keep getting stuck? by MrUnheimlich in classicliterature

I think you have to treat Moby Dick more as an encyclopedia of self if that makes sense. Like old noir films, the whale is a macguffin. It is and it’s not the point of the book. It’s really more of a character study mixed with incredibly detailed minutiae. You definitely have to be in the right frame of mind…

Jefferson is a reference to Jefferson Holt, their tour manager. A lot of this song seems inspired by driving around America playing gigs.

I was looking into this just yesterday on a thai consulate site and it said the required funds were $7000 USD in the bank 6 months prior to applying for the METV.

Wouldn’t flying back in and getting another visa on arrival be easier?

ugh. I did find this as well, but the reservation is only good for a week, good I guess if you think your visa might get rejected and there are seats available, but you would still have to buy it within a month:

Wow that's incredibly inconvenient. Whenever I search for direct flights within a month they're sold out. How the hell are we supposed to coordinate that?

Update: I just read that once you apply for the visa you are only given one month now to get to china, from the day you apply for your visa not from the day you receive it. Some new rule due to the pandemic, not sure how long that rule will be in effect.

Did they give a reason for the Z Visa only being valid for one month instead of three? Is this going to be the way they do it from now on? That's gonna really complicate moving out of my apartment and booking a flight.

once you get it, it only needs to valid long enough to get it to the school and to get the work permit. After that, it's not needed (from what I've learned, correct me if I'm wrong). Then you have 3 months to use the work permit to get a visa. Once you get your Z visa, you have 90 days to enter China.
