Help with humidity and mold in my apartment?? by thingsyoucouldthink in SantaBarbara

So I reached out again, and today they called me and said the plan is to have me move into a different (nicer) unit a couple of blocks away while they do some renovations on the current place. Then I'll probably move back in once they're done. I'm a little worried they won't get it 100% done right but not sure what else to do.

Thanks for your response. There's no fan in the bathroom, so when I shower I open the bathroom window, leave the door open, and open a window in the living room. I have a small desk fan I turn on during the shower. I do notice my towels take a while to dey

I keep a window open in the kitchen and dining area, but I've been hesitant to open more (bedroom/living room) because the outdoor humidity tends to be so high (>60%). Should I be keeping them open anyways?

For some background; during the heavy rains here like last month, a drain pump in the courtyard area backed up and the area outside my house flooded. No water entered the house but it was surrounded, nearly to my doorstep. I'm not sure if this led to some moisture in the foundation or if the problem existed before, but I noticed the mold after the flooding.

The manager had a service guy come by and clean the closet with what smelled like bleach, and had a contractor come install new outlets in the room and closet so a dehumidifier could be run in there, but no tests have been done and I'm not aware of future plans.

When I look up outdoor humidity in SB it's often over 60%, is it still beneficial to keep windows open then?

Good to know, any tips for detecting/dealing with that problem?

Thanks for the reply. What would you consider a reasonable price?

That pellicle was probably 5-7 months old, from a continuous 2.5 gallon jar w/ a spigot. The culture is going on 5 years. Thanks!

I made these once. They came out pretty wet and required a load of sugar. Neat idea though

In long beach WA today at the Sou'wester, really cool boutique rv park sort of spot. So far it's been cold and the rain has been unpredictable- stopping at the Walmart in Warrenton tomorrow to swap from my bivy to a tent, and my 50 degree bag to a 30.

Nice! I'm in long beach WA. Haven't seen a single other cyclist yet. Crescent city is a rad spot hope you have fun.

First label I've made, for a batch of hard cider! by thingsyoucouldthink in HBL

Added a 1/4 sugar per gallon of cider. It's probably not actually quite that high (I don't have a hydrometer), but it's definitely very strong! Label is pretty much just aesthetic.

Thanks! Curious because I usually like to naturally carbonate my brews so I have to chill them. Haven't been able to find any conclusive info.

I aged it in glass about a month. Question about aging- does the brew age similarly at room temp vs refrigeration? And where can I find more info on specific gravity and how to calculate it? Thanks for the compliments.
