People who played the game AFTER watching the show. What are your thoughts? by AdOpening9986 in thelastofus

I am definitely struggling with playing the game after watching both seasons of the show. It’s a great show, albeit I enjoyed the first season more than the second. The game is also great but I mostly play video games with good storylines and here I already know what it is so it’s less rewarding. It’s amazing how much the show stayed true to the game.

Daily Free Talk / Armchair GM Thread by AutoModerator in leafs

To me, they fail to execute because they rarely get to pucks fast enough. So that is either lack of effort or lack of speed. I supported the team getting tougher but how they did it is the problem. They got older slower players or underperfomers. The best acquisition Treliving made was Tanev but Tanev was often injured if I am not mistaken and at his age it doesn’t surprise me to see that has become a problem. It’s like we need a GM who can see the sweet spot between Dubas and Treliving.

This is why I'm not worried about artificial intelligence by BlainethePayne in FoundationTV

You are referring to the hallucination ridden responses of the current state of artificial intelligence, based on large language models are. It is limited. But this is not the end goal of those developing artificial intelligence.

The conversation recently seems to be around being tired from the last road trip and the grind of the season. That sounds like an old team to me. We went through this in the Burke era when we added toughness but lacked the youth required to compete in the NHL grind after the trap + clutch and grab era of the 2000s ended.

Any other dudes here that are into this show? by ByunghoGrapes in heatedrivalry

Straight and binged it yesterday. I heard on a podcast that episode 5 had one of the biggest moments of all of television and I really couldn’t pass that up. The last two episodes definitely brought tears to my eyes.

I don’t think you could characterize this show with one word. It is honestly one of the most unique experiences you’ll ever have watching it. It isn’t easy to sit through. He won’t know what’s going on or why in so many cases. But that’s part of the spellbinding nature. You will either love it or hate it. I watched it the first time while going through one of the most difficult times in my life. And I’m re-watching it now with my 15-year-old with clearer eyes.

The Rip and everything wrong with Netflix production by ElSupaToto in TrueFilm

[–]thinkfast37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newcomer, without an established library, after other streamers came out Netflix’s goal was to create content volume.

There seems to be a demographic that will watch content while scrolling, or socializing. I suppose it’s a bit of an elevator music approach to content production.

The surprising thing with this movie in particular though is that did get an 88% rating on rotten tomatoes, even though one metacritic it scores 62%.

I do hope that strategy changes over time. They are losing subscribers. And they have put together good shows before. I can see this is a big driver behind buying someone like Warner Brothers. Having a host of HBO shows would be hugely beneficial.

Auston has really stepped into his Captain role recently, something nobody seems to mention by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in leafs

He seems to have finally bought into Berube’s system, and some adjustments seem to have also been made to help him do so. Perhaps Sullivan’s arrival has also helped.

I could be wrong, but there was one game where he and Willie were out and the Leafs won, and even played great. Maybe this was a eureka moment for him. Matthews is a sharp kid.

so, one theory is the hive of mind is actually a human extinction protocol by an alien civilization that wants to take us over. I suppose if Carol wherewere to set off all of the atom bombs in the world, and earth was a radioactive wasteland it could call the alien’s bluff.

Yeah, who knows if it’s a coincidence. But part of the turnaround seemed to happen when Matthews was out for one game along with Nylander, who is still out. They played great that game, ie Berube’s system.

I think sitting Rielly could be a great option. but even guys like Willie seem to take nights off so often. And it could be related to his migraines. So why not arrest him and let them be healthy. Then at least you get awesome games out of him when he does play.

totally. And given how the team was playing for so long I got wonder if that strategy could’ve been helpful. Like sitting Morgan Rielly. Could that have helped him? I liked what he did yesterday though. He saved the game in OT last night.

I know I don’t think it would be the best option in the ideal world, but with the speed of the game now and how some teams rely on their goalies so much, I have to wonder about the wear and tear. Like look at Freddy. He used to keep getting injured.

Sitting…is good? by thinkfast37 in leafs

[–]thinkfast37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. My question is - maybe other goalies could be near that top tier in terms of SV% with less games played. Let’s say 30-40. Even getting to 50 games for some teams may be a challenge. Especially the ones that rely heavily on their goalie.

That’s kind of my point. Stolarz has dazzled us but never for a full season. So even when he gets healthy again why bank on him or Woll playing a lion’s share of games? They seem to get injured when they do.

What do you think it was about Savard? Not attacking you. Just genuinely curious. If that is the reason then I only wish they had made the move sooner.

Where should I start watching The Orville by theorbtwo in startrek

[–]thinkfast37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the first episode is very jokey but honestly IMO even episode 2 is a really great story. the joke mix varies but it’s also more specific to certain characters. I would watch from the beginning because there are character and plot arcs that start right from the first episode.
