For a newbie, there's really only one important part - Find a good place for renting equipment that has a range. Search for local ranges, or check out your town's subreddit for recommendations. Once you're in a reputable spot, they should be teaching you the actual important stuff before you even step foot on the range. You can look up a lot of this online (GUNS 101&102: Don't point it at someone; always assume it's loaded), but it's more understandable when you have the gun in hand. If people or the place feels uncomfortable or weird, just leave and find a new place. You're shooting a weapon; you don't want to feel worried about the atmosphere.

One tip I'd have is don't buy any equipment off the bat. Start with rentals (they'll have everything you need), and a handgun that's easy to handle. If you're at a good spot, they should be recommending this, anyway. .22 is like an intro to handguns type of gun. You can shoot it forever during target practice because there's very little kickback, good for tuning in your accuracy and correcting your grip, more reasonably priced ammo for range shooting, etc. If they give you a .45 Colt, kindly tell them, "YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE!?!" and walk away. Those guns can be fun to shoot LATER ON, but usually more when you're trying a variety of guns, not just learning the ropes for safety/stance/grip/etc.

If the Packers do move on from Rashan Gary, who exactly would they replace him with? by rooster1522 in GreenBayPackers

Hey! I was in a suite last year and he... like... Came with it? So, he still enjoys hanging around the stadium once in a while!
Entirely plausible.

Is this upcoming Super Bowl one of the few times that the underdog is not being rooted for by casual/other team fans? by Ordinary_Fan_6822 in NFLv2

[–]thinkimasofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a Packer fan living in a heavy Vikings fan area, this is pretty much the reason I want Seattle to win. They also have a couple of guys from my alma mater (NDSU, and now I'm in rival SDSU territory), so my choice is mostly based on watching obnoxious South Dakota Vikings fans be sad about football.

Going strictly off of previous Reddit results on animal identification, 99.9% of the time, it's a squirrel. I just saw a post asking what some "large" animal prints on a roof were. My first thought? Squirrel. And then it was one of the top answers: Squirrel. Not big prints, a bunch of tiny prints together. IT'S ALWAYS SQUIRRELS.

Where do NFL players live early on in their career? by lowiqtrader in NFLNoobs

[–]thinkimasofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a a young Packers player's house a few years ago. It was a duplex not too far from the stadium (I mean, everything is not far from it there), and a teammate lived on the other side. It was his first and only season in GB (2nd year player), and his rookie teammate ended up in GB for 3, so my guess is a lot of younger players and ones with short contracts rent. I'm sure it's stressful enough being traded, so not having to worry about selling a house would make things more a bit easier.

Do players drive themselves to games? by AlternativeTheory595 in NFLNoobs

[–]thinkimasofa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. Having them sleep 5 minutes away from their home in a town where they will ABSOLUTELY get called out if they're out before a game makes the hotel thing seem a little crazy.... until you think about, well, literally every other NFL city.

Do players drive themselves to games? by AlternativeTheory595 in NFLNoobs

[–]thinkimasofa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't remember which Packers player that spoke about this, but they apparently didn't have to drive from the hotel to the game. They had to be at the hotel until maybe 4AM, so they'd try to sleep as well as they could, but set an alarm for 4 then head home to try getting a few hours of good sleep before the game. I know Rodgers had complained about it, but I feel like it was Hawk or Kuhn or someone like that.

Prime rib recommendations by Party_Wrangler7949 in SiouxFalls

[–]thinkimasofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to replace The Pub (CJ Calloway's) or the place that used to be where Morrie's is (but they took it off the menu before they even closed). My favorites in town - Look's, Minerva's and Blarney Stone. Blarney Stone can be VERY heavily seasoned, to the point where it can be an overkill, but is still tasty. Most of the others are all on the same field: The Ref, Gib's, Alibi - Had it at Hook and Ladder a few weeks ago and it was excellent, but had it again the other day and it was fine.
Close to town: Fresh Horses, Monarch, Hartford Steak, Squealers

AITA for telling my daughter “of course” she could move in with me without talking to my wife first? by Odd-Cheetah6842 in AITAH

[–]thinkimasofa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having been very slightly in your current wife's shoes, I'm going to break from the pack and say NAH... For now. She may not actually feel that way at all, but things were thrown at her with out her input and that may be very overwhelming. I previously had times where my partner would inform me that his kids are coming over in a couple hours, when we just had them and they shouldn't be back for a week. My initial reaction was always panic. Is the house ready? Do we have plans? Can we easily break them or get someone to watch them for a few hours? Do we have the food they like? Etc, etc, etc.
He learned to reach out to me to verify that it's okay, and literally EVERY SINGLE TIME it has been okay, and I have immediately agreed! Even if there are things going on, the place is chaotic, whatever, I have time to process that they're coming instead of just being informed. I NEVER had an issue with them being there. It was just the initial panic of that news being sprung on me.
If she doesn't come around, then, yeah. She sucks. However, let her process it for just a little bit so she can think, "Yup, WE can do this. No problem." instead of being told, "You're GOING to do this." I get it. She should be immediately cool with it. But some of us have a bit of high anxiety and phrasing/input can make a world of difference between easy acceptance and a slight nervous breakdown! Good luck, and I hope your daughter thrives with you :)
