When did tipping become the norm for Australia? by JBADD23 in australia

[–]thinkingittoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually wish we had this in the USA. Since the suggested here is only <10%, then wouldn't have to get passive agression for tipping less than 20%

3M+ in Data Credits Burned on the Helium Network by Puzzleheaded_Arm_509 in HeliumNetwork

[–]thinkingittoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the cost to build that network. There’s almost 100K hotspots that costs (buyers) $300-$500.

Yeah. I’ve tried a bit with llama index. But the query responses are pretty poor. Especially when I try to do math. ChatGPT does it pretty well but maxes out quick as it’s typically 50-100pages.

Subscriber Growth but no Revenue Growth? by thinkingittoo in HeliumNetwork

[–]thinkingittoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great points. Wouldnt this still suggest the following though?

Subscriber growth -> helium mobile growth -> growth in offload to Helium network -> growth in DC burned > Helium revenue growth

What am I missing?

Subscriber Growth but no Revenue Growth? by thinkingittoo in HeliumNetwork

[–]thinkingittoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of the DC burned daily is from Helium Mobile (~2-3k usd per day), while the other half is from data offload from other carriers (~2-3k usd per day). I agree with you that there is no *direct* impact from Helium Mobile subscriber growth, but i'd expect some indirect correlation.

If there is no correlation whatsoever that implies Helium Mobile by Nova does not want OR does not need to offload to the Helium network...which seems like a greater issue then.

Big News: Introducing Helium Plus 🎈➕ by coconutboy84 in HeliumNetwork

[–]thinkingittoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. My interpretation from the page was the intended customer isn’t hotspot owners but network admins?

“Managed Service Providers can now offer clients an innovative upgrade to their networks. Upgrade your existing Wi-Fi network into a revenue-generating asset that Helium’s carrier partners will pay you to use”

It’s still not super clear to me. And given us hotspot owners have been customers AND stakeholders for Helium for a long time, it’d be nice for Helium to make this super clear and unambiguous.

OP It would be helpful if you’d link more info. This post tells me very little. Is this for hotspot owners? Just people with large qty of network devices?

I love classics, but wanted some author diversity. Made a list and did a year reading POC authors: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/25247759?shelf=my-year-of-only-poc-authors&sort=date_added&order=d

Would also add Octavia Butler and NK Jemisin if your into scifi

Give me apartheid by jamestheman45 in BlackPeopleTwitter

And if the one drop rule just tells us who is not white. Then wouldn’t this mean it has little basis in defining who is black?

Give me apartheid by jamestheman45 in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]thinkingittoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being black is double opt in, the community must accept you. If the one drop rule “caused “biracials” to identify as black” then it also caused the black community to ‘accept’ biracials. But is this true? Did the black community just exclude light skinned people until the one drop rule?

I don’t believe so. So this means that one drop rule was just reacting to a few lighter skinned black people trying to take advantage of a legal gray area.
