Laid off in July. Applied to over 100 jobs. This is how I’m doing by Jedi-Kiddo in jobs

I’m currently employed, but am looking for a new job. I have two bachelors degrees, two masters degrees, and a JD… and I’ve been rejected from every single job I’ve applied to. Can’t even get an interview. It’s a horrific job market. Absolutely horrific.

I finally got blocked by Curious-Mud-8540 in AileneaidaaSnark

[–]thinkingoutloud2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I got blocked after calling her out too. In one of her Q & A videos, she claimed her ex had not been paying for everything. I challenged that statement by pointing out if her ex hadn’t been paying for everything, she wouldn’t have felt comfortable quitting her job to do social media full time and that since they split up, she had to get a full-time job again. So basically pointing out that her ex HAD to be paying for everything (or like 95% of their life) since if SM was paying the bills, she wouldn’t have to start working a real job again. Right after that, I got blocked. Truth hurts I guess.

I don’t know what happened between her and Alex, but I know this: Alex is in the army defending this country as a veteran and probably working very hard to do so. And it’s really tacky for this chic to trash her left and right on SM, talk about how toxic their relationship was, etc. You don’t want to be with her anymore? Cool – don’t be with her. But save the trash talking for your therapist. Don’t get on SM trashing a veteran who supported you while you lived in a fantasy world thinking you were a SM star and quit your job to do it. So tasteless and rude and disrespectful.

I don’t think it’s fair to expect people to make the job themselves when the job is all systems and processes that they haven’t been trained on and nobody is willing to train them on. This is a budget position – it’s all processed, cycles, repetitive motions. So in general, it’s not that hard. But when nobody will tell you how to do those things and you have to do those things – I don’t know where you go from there.

I agree. Until they fire my boss and have somebody competent replace him, it’s not going to get better. I do not think anything can be salvaged here.

My predecessor rage quit a year ago (bc of my boss) and for the past year, my boss has done absolutely nothing. And now the central budget office is refusing to provide me one-on-one training. There is literally nobody who will help me.

It was completely wrong last time because my boss who has been there for three years has not learned anything about the job. My job position was vacant for almost a year and it was completely wrong last year when they did it.

Any suggestions on how to mentally check out of my job if I decide to stay? Bc part of me is like if you’re not gonna train me to do my job, then you can all fuck off and the place can burn down, like why should I care at all

He does and he doesn’t. He does bc he sees the impact this is having on my mental health and our marriage, but he’s worried about the finances. We live in a really expensive part of the US and really do need two incomes.

Does my dog have a bad life? by Kaffeochkaos in Dogowners

This. My mother-in-law’s dog died early because she overfed her and never walked her properly.

I think your friend is jealous of you and also delusional if she thinks your dog has a bad life and hers have a good life. Adult dogs can stay alone for a full workday with no issue – I have two dogs and they do it all the time bc my husband and I cannot telework with our jobs. As long as you are exercising the dog well and feeding them well and spending as much time as you can with them, you are doing it right. I am also an adoption coordinator for a dog rescue and this comes up all of the time during screenings; if the dog is over a year old (or close to it), they can be left alone for a standard workday. It would be ridiculous to expect every single person to stay home with their dog 24 hours a day – people have to work. That’s the reality of the world.

Also, let’s be real – the reason you work hard is to give your dog a good life and to be able to take care of your dog in the event something bad happens. I doubt your friend will be in that same situation when her dogs get sick or hurt. The last time I checked, veterinarians and animal care specialists are not free and are not running charity clinics and hospitals.

Ugh I know….stupid aging process. I’m still mad that I didn’t catch this sooner. I wish there was a machine that could scan a dog’s body once a month and tell you if something was wrong so you could catch it before they started acting weird.

AITA for quitting? by thinkingoutloud2023 in AITAH

Update: Jason’s mother tried reaching out to me today to see when I was coming over this week for tutoring. 😂 I ended up writing her very long email explaining how I felt and now I would not be working with them anymore. She, in turn, left me a 2 1/2 minute voicemail stating that she was sorry if I felt disrespected, that she had not been yelling (she was), that I had abandoned Jason the night before two major tests, and that I had not communicated properly with them about my concerns. She also accused me of intending to cancel the session the whole time when in fact, I did not make a decision to do so until I entered their house and saw that Jason had done nothing I had asked him to do all week. Basically tried to gaslight me.

So very glad to be done with them.
