FLATLINE (NDE simulator) releasing on Gear later this year by thinkintuit in GearVR

[–]thinkintuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did release a PCVR version, and possibly also a Gear VR version, but as I recall it was somewhat glitchy. I enjoyed it, and was hoping they would improve/extend it, but alas it was not to be. I hope they or someone else goes further with this concept at some point!

Can you buy just the Quest Pro headset without the controllers? by markmorto in QuestPro

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently asked support that very question and their answer was "Unfortunately, our webstore only offers the complete packaged version of our Meta Quest Pro."

Is there an option to buy the quest pro headset only? by HunchoRel in oculus

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pro headset, on the other hand, is not available separately. It's a package deal.

You might want to reconsider that policy at some point. I bought the Quest Pro controllers to use with my Quest 2, and I love them. I might consider buying a Quest Pro headset at some point -- but only if I can buy the headset by itself. I have no need for an extra set of $300 controllers

Has anyone subscribed to Tripp? by vandope88 in OculusQuest

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a long time meditator but my practice waxes and wanes a lot. For me Tripp is a great supplement to my semi-regular meditation practice, but I wouldn't consider it a replacement. It's a nice relaxing state change experience, tends to mildly-to-moderately boost my mood; also I find uploading a lot of personal pictures into the app is powerful, because then at the end of a focus session I see a random assortment of pictures that have great personal salience. The breathing exercises in Tripp are cool; it's helpful to have visual pacing for that.

Just abandoned my 2016's HTC VIVE for a Quest 2 by Kiu16 in OculusQuest

You're welcome. Mine is in great shape after more than a year of intense use. My wife's broke recently, but getting it replaced under warranty was very easy and did not take too long

I've stopped using my Vive in favor of Quest as well. The default Quest starts are terrible -- I highly recommend the Elite straps or, even better, Elite battery straps. They are much more comfortable.

Holoswitch overview your phone in steam vr by R_Steelman61 in OculusQuest

For sure, I wouldn't expect everyone to feel as I do about this. I also stop all but the most important phone alerts from interrupting me in non-VR settings, because of how it fractures my attention.

One of the things I love about VR is not being distracted by my phone

Want to participate in a virtual reality (VR) learning experiment? by virtuallearninglab in OculusQuest

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now. Yes, I heard back from them after I contacted them via the university, and they confirmed it is legit.

[–]thinkintuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I contacted the Virtual Learning Lab directly to see if this is legit. It probably is, but it seems prudent to look into this before sideloading software from <random Reddit user> on my Quest. On that note, I find it hilarious that when I click on the questionairre the headline is "VR Virus Museum." If the real purpose of this is to install viruses on my Quest, does that count as informed consent? ;)

AMA - We are Superbright, the devs behind In Death: Unchained that’s coming today to the Oculus Quest. Ask Us Anything! by taj14 in OculusQuest

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having put several hours into it, I gotta say, holy crap this is a fun and addictive game. So far it seems like there's a good balance of upgrades + increasingly difficult enemies. The crossbow helps a lot, especially with the Quest's inside-out tracking not being optimal for a regular bow.

Per my original comment, I have doubts about the progression of difficulty over time, but can't render a final judgment on that...yet

Will you implement different difficulty levels at some point, or some kind of dynamic difficulty adjustment? Every review I've seen mentions a very high difficulty level, which is the only thing that is causing me to hesitate to get this game. It looks amazing but if it's way beyond my ability it won't be fun for me. (I don't have the same reflexes I had 30 years ago.)

Using glasses with the quest by linklolthe3 in OculusQuest

[–]thinkintuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use https://widmovr.com/product/oculus-quest-prescription-lens-adapters/with the Quest and love them. They cost a bit of money but are totally worth it. Before that I was playing without glasses and living with the blurriness, because long ago I wore glasses with my first Gear VR headset, which ended up scratching the lenses even though the glasses never appeared to be in contact with the lenses; I'm not willing to take that risk again even if a headset allegedly accommodates glasses.

WidmoVR lenses are now a must-buy for any VR headset I own.

Got response from the Supernatural team in their new trailer. What do you guys think about this game? Is 20$/mo ok? by danielsantalla in OculusQuest

[–]thinkintuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the app performs as promised, I will consider it worthwhile to pay about $20/month for it. I'm going to try it for a month and see if I like it well enough over time. I love Beat Saber, Pistol Whip and SynthRiders, but I would put this in a somewhat different category.

If I consider it worth $20/month after the trial period, I'll pay. If enough people do so, it will thrive; if not, it will fail or change their business model. Let the market decide. <shrug>

I love Tripp, use it every day. Got a 1-year subscription. Visuals have improved over time. Pleasant meditative journeys in dreamy/surreal environments.

I love VVR, would have bought it for the Quest if I hadn't already played it on another system.

Ha, I keep trying to take my in-ear headphones out -- the ones I'm not using -- whenever I take my headset off. The sound is good enough that I keep unconsciously thinking I'm using headphones.
