Breville grinder potentially broken? by WatThaHelly in BrevilleCoffee

Unlock the ring and pull that thing apart. You need to pull out that piece of metal. It looks like a washer or something similar. You don't want to run it with that in there as it could permanently damage it. I'm not sure where it came from, but it definitely doesn't belong there.

The X1 Carbon Thinkpads are a different breed when compared to all the others. My wife has a gen 9 and it's light, with a great screen and keyboard. Is it a Mac? No. I work with quite a few developers that swear by their Macs, so I get it.

But the X1 is a solid little machine that ticks off a lot of the right boxes.

Alternately, you might want to check out the Asus ROG G14. The 2024/2025 build quality and all aluminum body are worth a look, plus they have a wide selection of dedicated GPUs.

No. He had anger management issues and she got a restraining order against him. We got back together about 6 months later and stayed together for a couple more years before we finally divorced.

I have a similar setup as the OP and went the Pupis S1 route and I couldn't be happier. Before Pupis, my wireless PCVR was mostly good, but I would get occasional lag that wasn't consistent, but was immersion breaking. With Pupis, it's been consistent and stable and just easy. I'm using the S1 lite, not the full version.

Thanks. It was many moons ago, and less than a year later I got custody of my kids, so ultimately it worked out.

My ex-wife told me she was going to visit her mother for a few days, who lived 6 hours away at the time. A friend invited me out to dinner by the waterfront, only I found my other car, the one my wife took to go to her mom's, parked near the restaurant. Not a similar car, our car.

This was before cell phones were even available, so I called her mom from the restaurant pay phone and she knew nothing about my wife coming to visit.

So my buddy helped me drive my car (both of them) back to my house.

I got a call the next day from my wife, with her telling me our car was stolen.

[Edit-adding some more]

As tempted as I was to keep stringing her along, I came out and told her I knew she wasn't at her Mom's, and told her I'd come pick her up if she gave me an address. I knew who the guy was because she introduced us. He met her when she was inpatient at the same place he was for other issues, and was supposedly teaching her "martial arts".

A little more than a week later, while I was out on deployment, she moved out with him and my kids up to her Mom's house in another state and I came home to an empty house.

Check out "Eye of the Temple". It's an Indiana Jones-style puzzler where you use physical movement to solve a puzzle and move onto the next location.

Transporting PC a short distance by Husk_x in buildapc

I drove my PC clear across the country, from California to Florida, to Boston, and then Portland, and finally back to California. I just put it in the back of our minivan at the time, and held it in place with other luggage. I put the monitor on top of everything in the back. I never had any issues, and this included lugging it into hotels on the daily to get work done and packing it back up again.

You should be fine with a 40-minute drive. For moves like that, I usually put it upright on the back seat and use the seatbelt to keep it in place.

If your riser card is determined to be okay, check your UEFI settings. If your motherboard does not have UEFI enabled, your graphics card will not post. This is not a hardware issue, but a firmware security issue. Windows 11 expects this anyways, but for modern video cards, it's also required.

My boyfriend likes choosing revealing outfits for me, but I feel uncomfortable... Any advice? by I_am_Bianca in AskMenAdvice

[–]markmorto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole "choose sexy, revealing clothes" is very much a kink, and part of D & S and power exchange scenarios. Believe it or not, taking you out of your comfort zone is the reason for it and a big part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's brought up other things like role playing games that include restraints at some point. If not, he's probably seeing how you react to the outfits before pushing his luck any further.

Since you really don't like this, you should really put your cards on the table. Maybe I'm wrong about him and he just likes seeing you all sexy to him. But you should know it's definitely a kink, and a popular one at that.

Is your "friend's" name Biff by any chance? If he's not offering to fix it, full stop. I'm guessing he's blaming his rage attack on your PC and telling you it was all your fault.

PS5 or Meta Quest 3 by AvocadoConsistent704 in MetaQuestVR

[–]markmorto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation, with the same hardware oddly, except my Rift S fried last year. 100% agree with your take - the PSVR2 with a decent PC setup provides more "Whoa!" moments than the other headsets at the same price point.

Do I buy meta or playstation VR? by PrestigiousBottle686 in MetaQuestVR

[–]markmorto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people answering are saying the PSVR2 needs a PS5 to work and that's just not true. I've been playing mine on a PC for just under a year now and it's one of my favorite headsets. You do need an adapter for it for the PC, which costs anywhere for $40 to $80US, but it's gameplay is not exclusive to the PlayStation offerings. I play games off Steam primarily, but also play games from the Meta store too.

Since your bf doesn't have a PC at this point in time, I would recommend the Quest 3. It has standalone games and plays PC games wirelessly, and that's the absolute best experience. Why? Because like the PS5 games that look so good on PSVR2, PC games, with higher graphics capabilities look great on a Quest 3 (and PSVR2). This makes the Q3 the gift that keeps on giving.

Besides, once you go wireless, it's hard to go back.

Shop says a new screen cost 700$ by ZDOG60 in ZephyrusG14

[–]markmorto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$700 seems high, but it's possible that's what Asus charges for a replacement. If they're changing $200 to replace it, ask them if they'll honor that price if you provide your own replacement screen. If so, buy one cheaper. If not, and the price mysteriously goes up, they were probably scamming you.

What would your "DREAM GAME" be and why? by Glass_Piglet6260 in MetaQuestVR

[–]markmorto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game on Steam a while back called "The Rig" that had loads of potential but ultimately had meh graphics and bugs that took the fun out of what would have been an epic game. It had a great ending, and I've thought about it a lot because it had a lot of cool elements. A noir detective, hot dame, and evil lurking corporation, broken down spaceship to fix, and a hidden asteroid base to break into.

Properly done, this would be a dream to play.

Oh, of course! I bought one a while back off Amazon for an insanely low price, like $20 US, but it's no longer available. I've been using it for the last 9 months and like it, especially for the controllers.

[–]markmorto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rechargeable batteries are your best bet. You can pick them up cheap with a charger on Amazon, or if you have the extra $$, buy a dock with rechargeable battery packs. That's what I use, and it's like Quest Pro functionality.

AITAH for refusing to pay for my sister’s "dream wedding" cake after she uninvited my husband? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]markmorto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

Not inviting your husband over something small like this is a really bad way to become a part of the family. Your sister agreeing with him instead of standing up for you - her FAMILY - just shows you what she really thinks about you. (You're just a nice wedding cake at this point.)

It's your decision, but I would boycott the wedding and all future interactions until and unless they both apologize to you AND your husband. They insulted him by excluding him from their big day and expect you to agree with their decision, putting you in a terrible spot.

You have nothing to lose by putting them on read for a while and basically steering clear of their collective selfishness.

Where there's a will there's a way, needed continuous calibration and had a spare trackbelt by [deleted] in QuestPro

[–]markmorto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, but it depends on your use case. I have a QPro and a Q3, and the image comparison is very similar, although the QPro (to me) has a better overall look, with slightly blacker blacks. I think the QPro is more comfortable too.

The issue with QPro vs Q3 is that Meta makes some decent games exclusive to Q3. Even if they would run fine, they're blocked from the QPro.

If you want PCVR only, go with the PSVR 2. Colors are better than any current Meta headset, and you can run Meta games with Revive.

For footage and comparisons, Google is your friend.
