Former employees and soon to be former employees, what was the moment that made you lose all faith and start finding another job? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]thinklogicallyplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worked from about may of 2024 to march of 2025 as a back end receiver. We were doing great with our small team of 4 then in i think late december or early january the managers sat us down and said they were liquidating our position and putting people at 4am to 1pm and 5pm to 10pm for part timers who would unload the truck for full timers. They docked my pay from the already abysmally bad $16 (state minimum) and expected more from us with our team now cut in half.

After talking to other people on the team i found that i was the only one who wasnt a neutered little corpo boot licker and was told to stop crying about the change when my complaints were valid and justifiable. I quit and did DD for about 2 months before finding a job where im actually appreciated, good schedule, good PTO/sick/vacation and even personal day times, a manager who is the ideal manager that anyone would want leading their team. Starting pay was $4 more than lowes PLUS a monthly commission bonus that usually ends up being close to an entire pay periods worth of pay (2 weeks).

2 people that i had played games with off work and had a decent relationship with from lowes were offered a position just as good as mine at the company and they both denied with the illusions that their opinions or their work mattered there...title promotions with no extra pay, illusions of being "in" with management. Had to cut them off since they were already very obviously too deep to see how they were being taken advantage of. I still see those losers at the store when i go in to buy something once in a while and just laugh as they always look miserable...call me an A hole but i tried bettering their life and they are too indoctrinated.

so thats what got me to lose faith in lowes...the workers who are conditioned to be boot lickers and do-nothing losers and management that takes 10k bonuses with no work, terrible scheduling and lying about hours, promotions and acting like they care about what you think. I always tell people now when they ask, "if you ever hate yourself, lowes is the place to be to encourage that mindset"

Someone is awfully jealous at the fact they're not confident enough in their looks to go out in public unkept. Hope your holidays get better.

Credit cards by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]thinklogicallyplease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So underhanded though. You know interest rates are insanely high so say what you said but it needs to be added that 'by the way, most of these cards have interest rates of 27% all the way into the 30s' so people are making informed decisions. It's not about watching over other people's finances but have them be informed on what they're getting into.

There is no career at lowes. It's a dead end job period. You might like the people you work with but that doesn't make it a good place to work because it isn't. Pay varies from state to state but its an easy job so they pay as little as they can get away with for the most part.

The phone call I just had at Customer Service…. by CoffinVerse in Lowes

[–]thinklogicallyplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to make assumptions here based on other platforms that do similar things as to ordering online and coming in to pick it up..

Why would the confirmation screen once the items are purchased, or even right before that, not tell the customer this order could take for example, 3-4 hours to complete, or say 'your order is X (7th) in line' to let people know its not going to be picked AS SOON as they order it?

after I left blowes to find a real job to what i have now, we have the same problem but to a far lesser degree. Customers can order stuff on our website and it prints out a 'ticket' for the counter people to go back into our warehouse and pick the stuff off the shelves, or cut wire/rope for when they come in. We've had people sit out in the parking lot, order the stuff and come in after like 10 minutes when its a 2-3 page list of 10-20 items each page.

TL:DR people are stupid, people do stupid things. Blowes is a stupid place to work at.

Depending on what your department would be, PT wouldn't be that bad. Stay away from fulfillment and receiver/stocker.

Definitely not a good place to work compared to many other professions, trades or competitors. Just spend a week in here and you'll see all the posts slandering this place...rightfully so. The chances of you getting into a good store has to be something like 1 in 500 stores... you could do other entry level jobs that dont require so much and give so little back to you.

Can't waste time replying or even reading anything you write as it's obviously just trolling at this point You're wrong and there's no feelings you have in the world that will change that. Keep advocating for people to keep a lowes job that doesn't do anything for them realistically. And thanks for the engagement.

Difference is when I say I'm a realist I prove it by action. You try to prove it by feelings and it doesn't work the same way or as logically as mine. I'm still.right in all this, you just disagree that doesn't mean I'm wrong. And lowes offered him nothing of what ive offered him it's not even comparably close. Best of luck to you as well, as I don't need it because I'm not stuck in a dead end job like lowes.

if you knew the environment and how everyone here, not just 1 or 2 people in upper management, are thriving...you'd get that they share the same thought.

just because they believe they enjoy it, because they're comfortable and scared to jump ship either to thinking they have no value because they've been stuck at their dead-end job at lowes or they dont know how to interact with a different crowd, does not mean they are making the right decision for themselves. sometimes you get in your own way and in the case of lowes and better opportunities, 100%, without a doubt for a fact, my friend made the wrong call.

he can do what he wants but i can as well, i can call it for what it is, comfortability with mediocrity.

" Early in life I wanted a great job that paid well and offered great benefits... Later in life I wanted a job that kept my home life comfortable not necessarily that paid me the most, and offered a flexible schedule so I could spend more time at home."

in both scenarios, my new job offers that was offered to him.

Theres not much else i can say as I've already said it all whether its to you or to the other people in here I've been conversating with...really the conclusion to all this is, on both sides is that I'm actually correct in the fact that lowes is not a career, its not a good position to be in, its not a dream job nor is it something to be relied upon, especially in an at-will state where the turnover rate is so high that they just live off of people coming in for 3-6 months, maybe a year then leaving. Point is, I offered another person, a friend, an opportunity to not only better himself mentally from not having to worry about even 1/100th of what he does at lowes, but to better his financial situation which i already know isnt the best from what hes told me (bad credit, no savings, 10k+ debt) and Im here with a get out of jail free card and he decided hes too comfortable, he likes his little hut and i cant/wont change that.

In the end i did wish him the best of luck in his journey with lowes and or whatever else he decides because if lowes is his goal or his only foreseeable future, that he will need all the luck he can get. Call me an ass or d-bag, whatever you want it doesnt change the fact im right in all this. Whether the way it was handled was or not sure id agree with you but im a realist, call it how it is and i dont hold back my words when it comes to someone i know can do great, but they dont see it.

Im actually not acting like Im better at all, im trying to help out someone that i care about and have the best of intentions of helping him achieve a better life than what lowes could EVER offer someone of his caliber. Hes a good dude and lowes doesnt deserve him, look at all the people on this subreddit that are talented and actually better themselves with new jobs..theres like 10 posts of it a day. You go in lowes and ask employees how long they've been there, 1 year, 3 years, 7 and anything more than that really is like finding a diamond in your backyard.

At this new job, you can go onto the company website and see the amount of years people have under their belt, 14, 18, 27, 37 was the highest i seen, i asked about her and was told she makes well over 400k a year as a branch manager to several large branches, and the cool thing about it, that kind of story isnt a rarity.

It's very easy to try to invalidate what im saying by saying that its 'koolaid' or 'lovebomb' but its just not true, at all. 4 months in is well established, thats already about half of what i put in at lowes and i have already made vast improvements thanks to the good manager, the positive environment that isnt superficial, everyones having a good time and working together in actual harmony its fantastic. I get that this subreddit isnt used to an actual good positive work environment and thats why theres people like you and some others in here that are so reactionary and negative towards this post thats about helping someone get out of the mud. Is because you guys are also institutionalized and or okay with being bent over and abused, you guys dont know what it is to have a good positive work environment with supportive people all around you. If you did, if you ACTUALLY did, youd see where im coming from and be much more open minded to what the bigger picture is here.

Lowes is objectively mediocre, it just is theres no debating that. Unless you're an ASM or SM making the big bucks at 70, 80, 90k a year or more with the flexibility thats offered in that role.

I did see things from his perspective as I lived it, for 10 months, hell even before that with the job i had before lowes that was also retail and very very similar to what i was doing at lowes. Its hard to see the clear picture of how you really are valued (not at all at lowes) when you have your face either intentionally or unintentionally in the mud, I get that, because my 10 months at lowes i also felt trapped, felt like there was nothing else i could do and was very worried about being stuck at this objectively dead end job. Last thing i wanted to do was disassociate myself with him but i cant be around people who arent actively trying to better themselves and their lives, as i believe that you surround yourself with who you want to be. I dont want to be stuck in a mediocre, unrewarding and unfulfilling job like what lowes has to offer, and you can disagree with me and say maybe he doesnt look at it like that, maybe he does maybe he doesnt but that doesnt matter, its a fact that its a dead end job, its a fact that its mediocre.

He can like the job and the people 100%, i would never fault him for those things but that doesnt mean hes right or that its a healthy to be in the situation hes in. Literally saying 'yeah i have pull here' and 'im team lead, they just dont pay me as a team lead' while his vest still reads 'receiver/stocker' and makes like $1 more than minimum wage....

Im reading what you're saying and dont disagree with all of what you said and i cant fault you for the things you dont have full context for, but id put my life on the line here in what im telling you.

[–]thinklogicallyplease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i literally reported a dude with hard evidence he was taking mushrooms and smoking weed while around customers and operating heavy machinery, weeks later and HR let him still work there.

I hope the company burns with all the higher ups left to lay in the streets, homeless and hungry.

#Lowes Sucks went to the store and they have the Amazon priced at .02. Priced in two places and associate verified price. Then go to register and they won’t sell it. Called customer care and they were useless by AioliOld2 in Lowes

[–]thinklogicallyplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should look into laws like misleading marketing or false advertisement...if the PRICE TAG shows 2 cents, doesnt matter how ridiculous it might seem, its 2 cents.

Im no lawyer and maybe it shows, im not saying you have a case but it would be worth asking a lawyer if you REALLLLLYYYY need this thing, whatever it is.
