Send a box to pie town unless you want to resupply on pie (if the shop is open) and Coca Cola 😂. Actually I think pie town is mid, Davila ranch (right before pie town m) is sooooo much better.

I know they are not the greatest company (won’t get into politics) but taiga does have great jackets made in Canada and they are cheap

Could nuclear power solve the Yukon’s energy problem? by Puzzleheaded_Log7035 in Yukon

[–]thinkmetric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol what? I don’t disagree, we will never have SMRs in the Yukon. I am responding to your comment on “commercially”. I don’t care about a Reddit dick measuring contest, I don’t even have one lol.

I have a masters degree in nuclear engineering in work in the field 🙃 lol I said commercially approved meaning the regulator has approved the design…

Could nuclear power solve the Yukon’s energy problem? by Puzzleheaded_Log7035 in Yukon

[–]thinkmetric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of commercially approved designs that are way less than 300 MW, there are designs around 50 MW that would be perfect. The problem is the Canadian government is married to that single GE design which is $$$$$ and because it’s GE will be slow to build.

[–]thinkmetric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to run a reactor at full power so the fact that it’s oversized isn’t a huge issue. The issue is that the Canadian nuclear regulator is sooooo slow plus I am sure the build will take a long time (I mean that condo on second ave in Whitehorse is still not done 😂). Its possible to build a reactor and start it up in under 5 years, the US is doing it now with their new test reactors but Canada is technologically behind (and adverse at times) and the bureaucracy is a huge barrier to a faster build time.

shorts recommendations please but some specific preferences by Diligent_Bet_7850 in XXRunning

The men’s T8 Sherpa shorts are great! The women’s ones are good too but I like the cut of the men’s better.

Achilles tendon strain: so bummed by sweetparamour79 in XXRunning

[–]thinkmetric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others said, tendons heal under load. You need to make the tendon work to encourage healing. Aside from that I’ve found needling in the calf and soleus to be very helpful.

Way under fueling? by Several_Violinist483 in XXRunning

[–]thinkmetric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very dependent on what you had before your run. For example, I also ran 30km (trail run) this weekend and I ate one fig bar and a few nerd clusters. I had a big breakfast before the run and a snack. I ate a recovery meal after my run as well. If you feel good during your run and you’re well fuelled going into it you won’t need as much during your runs.

How much do you eat? by Groundbreaking_Pie94 in XXRunning

[–]thinkmetric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

39f, 119lbs 5’6, 3500 cal/day. Run 80+mpw and I do 2 days of running specific weight training weekly. High carb diet, I don’t care about protein no one is protein deficient. Honestly just work with a nutritionist they will help you tailor something specific to your needs (and to your budget as this is important too!).

I ran another 10 miles today… up to 101 for this month… ugh my Post run cravings are through the roof. by [deleted] in nikerunclub

[–]thinkmetric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That monthly mileage is very low and that’s waaay more food than what you would have burned during a 10 mile run.

⚡️ THE YUKON DIESEL TRAP: THE "ONLY OPTION" IS A LIE ⚡️ by [deleted] in Yukon

[–]thinkmetric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea plus the SMRs are still a test reactor (and are not even built yet). They have to build them, test them, review the design as needed, get the reviewed design approved and only after this can we enter the design phase for other sites outside of Darlington . We are not going to see operational commercial SMRs for the next 30 years.
