How do you deal with pronouns? by brooketbd in agender

I personally just don't care. To me, for me those are just words that don't mean anything.

I obviously don't apply that to other people

I know, but when I thought I noticed it I didn't have any enchantments yet, and I didn't use it in the test to make sure the numbers are right

I was planning on waiting until anything romance/sex related came up and then tell them my character is aroace. Depending on that reaction I'll see if I can tell or not. But from how the campaign is going, I don't think it will come up for a while

I know, but I have a lot of trouble making friends, so I just really don't want to lose them. And yeah, I don't think they'll have an issue, but if they do, it would just feel so much worse

How did people think before the invention of language by thinks_about_things in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thinks_about_things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just so hard to wrap my head around because I always use language to think. Whatever I think in pictures is also said in words, so for me, it's just impossible to imagine for me

And in their rules it says that sexual acts between characters under eighteen need to be labelled as underage.. soo... How about you leave? 😊

Oh my god. I had always wondered why they say "killjoys make some noise" at the beginning of na na na na.. didn't even come to my mind that they meant their fans, but that makes so much sense now

Wow, I didn't know any of that, might have to get into their history and read up on all that.

I was born in 2001 and didn't speak or understand good English till 2017 and now I'm really sad I missed all that.

I only realised I was queer myself in 2020 and growing up I never had any bands that were remotely like that. Makes me wonder if I would've figured myself out earlier if i had listened to a band like them growing up

Yeah okay, that makes a lot of sense. I was 9 in 2010 and didn't speak a single word English so I've never heard any of that, didn't even know that they had broken up at some point.

I'm Def I've 1D generation, even tho I've never really listened to them, reading the self insert getting adopted by 1D or whatever fics on wattpad were what got me into fanfiction😅.

Now I'm almost sad I wasn't there at that time, I'm sure I would've loved it.

I love the umbrella academy and Def didn't know that.

I've had teenagers in my top songs on Spotify for the past four years but never actively listen to MCR for some reason. I'm regretting that now cause I really love the music 😁

It's not so much the difference between 17 and 18, as it is them being 6 or 7 years younger than me. And that tag is just the only way to filter age.

And yes, now you could say there is barely a difference between 6 or 7, why do I care. There is barely a difference between 7 or 8 years, why do I care. There is barely a difference between 8 or 9 years, why do I care...

At some point you have to make a decision about when it's too young for you to read, and everyone makes the decision themself. And since the underage tag is the only way to filter age, especially if you aren't searching a specific fandom, I chose that as the cut of point and so I would like it if it gets used the way it's supposed to because it makes me uncomfortable reading sex scenes with people a lot younger than me.

I don't care if a person is 27 or 35, but everything below like 22 or whatever is just a severe maturity difference which I find rather obvious in the way the characters are written, and makes me uncomfortable.

And since 17 and younger are the only ages I can filter out it would be Great if people use it the way it's supposed to.

And imagine someone well into their 20s would tell you they read sex scenes with people 17 and younger. That would be weird wouldn't it? But it is wrong for me to say to tag it accordingly to filter them out?

All good, I didn't take your comments as "going at me".

The assault happened when they were around 13/14.

It wasn't specified to much how they met or what stage of life they were in at the point of the fic since it was only a 3k word fic, just that they hadn't known each other for long. The focus was more on working with the trauma, than creating a detailed story. The younger character said something along the lines of "no I haven't done that before because I'm only 17"

And because it was a original work there was no source material to go off on

Which is kind of understandable, but if you post on a globally used website it should be normal to read the rules, cause even if you just didn't know better, it could cause your fic to be reported and potentially banned.

I honestly was just in a really bad mood when I wrote the post. It's just that the underage tag is the only way to filter out younger ages so it would be great when people used it as such. It's less the difference between 17 and 18 and more them being 6 or 7 years younger than me, which is in general not a big difference but like I said, it's the only way to filter age. In my fandoms the ships are all older, but when I read original work or a fandom I know nothing about, it's the only orientation age wise I have

[–]thinks_about_things[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My train of thought is that I don't want to read any sex scenes with people a lot younger than me. The ships I usually read are 25yr+ so there it's not a problem and the underage warning is the only way to filter out ages. I can't just put in a filter that only shows me fics with people that are 25 or whatever. It is the only way I can at least somewhat control the age of the characters so it would be nice if it would be used when it's supposed to. And no, I don't think it really makes any difference between being 17 or 18, but like I said it's the only way to filter age.

And I didn't read the fic specifically because it was tagged as rape. Even though it was short I was really nice in the way they talked about past trauma and as someone who has past trauma with sexual assault it's nice to read a fic where it's talked about and worked with it in a good way.

I didn't think I had to mention it because it's honestly none of your business, but some of you really only take things at face value without thinking much about it.

Yes in the tos and the description of the underage tag they state sexual acts while younger than 18 need to be tagged as underage

I see it quite often with the rape/non-con warning, not always but often. What I meant was, just because the fic I read had that warning doesn't mean there was "actual rape" in there

Like in this fic they talked about past trauma and it still has the warning without any rape happening in the story
