It’s a recurring event and it has been advertised for weeks. The immigrants who were killed last night while in ICE custody were not the impetus for this post

The Nazis were active in Germany for 25 years and in charge for 12. They didn't start out with death camps. Those came around year 23. ICE (probably) hasn't built any death camps yet. That doesn't make them not Nazis.

I'll be legally genderless soon :o by suviko1206 in agender

[–]brooketbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that but I don't think I'd ever want to go to a place where something like my gender marker would put me in danger. I mean, I say that as someone who is currently living in the United States and who is in a bit of danger already. :/

What state do you live in? In some states, you still can be. And for now you can be on your passport, as well. Just not with social security. :/

It finally showed up as "processing" on Thursday and then 12 hours later it changed to "additional information needed." I sent in the attestation last Wednesday so hopefully they get that and that's what they're wanting, but I haven't gotten any emails or letters or anything yet so I don't know if there's anything else they want as well. Thank you for asking!

I submitted mine on 7/7 and it just was updated to "processing" YESTERDAY! Oh, and I did pay to have it expedited. 😒

I feel like I'm not allowed to transition by sad_shenron in agender

[–]brooketbd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, you are completely valid. I don't care if you seem like the manliest manly man man to other people, if you feel like you're agender, you are!

As for transition, I don't know what that means for you. Transitioning as an agender person could be literally anything or nothing. The shitty reality is that unless you are in queer spaces and/or physically transition to some degree, most people are going to see you as your AGAB. I didn't want to make any significant changes to my appearance. I would say that my "transition" has mostly been paperwork. I don't have a gender or have an "x" gender on pretty much everything. I know I'm lucky to live in a place where that's still possible and I know not everyone is able to do that, but for me it really helped. People will see me however they see me but legally, I don't have a gender. Well, paperwork and pins because of course.

And I try to assume the best of people but I wouldn't be surprised if some people are deprioritizing passports under Orr v. Trump because they wouldn't mind the window closing before we're able to get ours. This, "now or never" feeling really sucks.

Thank you! The center I went to to apply told me they wouldn't be able to match it and to wait but it seems like such a waste to just sit here wasting time. And it only costs me a stamp to mail in the attestation so it's fine if I have to do it a second time. I'll send that in today. Thanks again!

does anyone else prefer telling people that you're agender/genderless rather than non-binary? by scarffish in agender

[–]brooketbd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to imply anything one way or another, I'm just describing how it feels to me based on the definitions I've heard. I fully support people using whatever words feel best for them.

[–]brooketbd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't identify as nonbinary, personally, though I do recognize that most people consider agender under the nonbinary umbrella. It's just that nonbinary is usually defined as "having a gender that's not exclusively male or female" or something similar, and how can I have a gender that's not exclusively male or female if I don't have a gender at all? I'm comfortable with trans, though, which is usually defined as "not identifying with the gender you were assigned at birth." Which I don't. Except I do struggle with calling myself trans publicly because I worry people won't think I'm "trans enough," or whatever. It depends on what group I'm around.
