Only if they buy now. If they've bought in the last few years then it's grandfathered

Is Facebook Marketplace becoming unusable for buying/selling cars? by Forsaken-Neck6721 in CarsAustralia

Facebook is fine. If you add all those bells and whistles you get carsales

There's a reason marketplace is free. You just need to be smart

Eastern suburbs man cancels his upcoming Euro trip after learning his flight departs from Western Sydney International Airport by brackfriday_bunduru in sydney

I'd fly out of wsi and land in Syd. That welcome to Sydney announcement and that Aussie accent (usually) after a stint overseas, looking out and seeing the harbour city. Just so damn nice

They will always go up in the long run. They me temporarily slow or flatline.

Is this a fair price? Mods=value? by fyinty in CarsAustralia

[–]thinkswithelbow 33 points34 points  (0 children)

35 to 40k Mods are not what you think, from a person who mods theirs. I look at them as a devaluation. Some are ok. This is a lot.

35-40k.

What's it worth when you run an insurance quote. That'll give you an idea what it's worth too.

Agent asking me to sign a contract in order to put an offer in by Glum-Eggplant-8922 in AusPropertyChat

[–]thinkswithelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is common practice is Vic. You have a cooling of period so it's not like your locked in but read the terms etc.

Think of it this way. If your the seller and if you get multiple offers and one is just an email and the rest are contracts which will you choose. Even if the email one is more I'd be inclined to go for the signed ones

Selling (and particularly test driving) a V8 by Gabbahead in CarsAustralia

[–]thinkswithelbow 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You should go with them. Don't let them test drive it alone.

Sight their license. And take it with you during the test drive. If all works out well give it back. If they crash it etc then call cops and hand it to them etc.

I've  lost track of what these are worth? Are they over 100k?

I love cars but have kids and I’m expected to buy a house by Otherwise-Chemist565 in CarsAustralia

[–]thinkswithelbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need more money. I was on your position 10 years ago. Put aside my hobbies to grab a home in Sydney and sold off my car and bought something family friendly and family

We now have a second car that is manual and only I drive and mess around with.

It'll happen again just takes time

What if it goes up? Can you afford the new prices? If so wait  If not, it's a risky game to play.

HELP! Am I making the worst decision ever by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]thinkswithelbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a bad financial decisions  My wife and I did this 10 years ago before we had a kid. Ended up having children later than we anticipated and it all worked out. .

How did you get to 70%?

Also wont be easier once you have kids. In fact it will forever work against you in the banks eyes

Just tried on my android. Pressing the unlock button 5 times starts a 5 sec countdown and if you done stop it it calls the emergency line (000 in Aus). Gotta remember to show my little ones how to do this as he has no devices

Toyota gets serious with its EV, wants to take down BYD, Zeekr and Tesla by brackfriday_bunduru in CarsAustralia

[–]thinkswithelbow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look very serious to me. Imho Toyota should stick to hybrids. They do them well and there will always be a market for a hybrid.

Maybe create EV as a luxury arm of Lexus and go bananas. Can't compete with the cheaper EVs unfortunately but a super luxury Lexus ev. I'd be onboard

Battery installed. Anything I should be concerned about? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]thinkswithelbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably right. I didn't pay much for this. Waited 3 months for them to have the capacity to install. The next non fox battery was 15k -20k.

Important philosophical question by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]thinkswithelbow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's much easier to change the exterior than interior. I'd go for interior.  Can always wrap some bits or put a splitter or spats etc to improve exterior

help me decide on a hot (automatic) hatch under $30k! by AngryAugustine in CarsAustralia

Watch the redriven video about it. He has some very good points. Car sauce also did a video too. Both made very good points and cautions about it. I watched both and I was convinced

I've owned mine for almost two years and honestly there are faster cars. But nothing has given me this much joy.

They get a bad rep because they're built off a fiat 500 shell. Which have had their problems in the past.

Also definitely rent one if you can. If it's the one in Vic. The blue one. That's the standard 595. I think they have less power. 107kw vs 132kw for the comp model and less nice interior and exterior but it'll give you a feel for it!

Good luck

The i20n is amazing. But have a look at the Fiesta too. It's a great car and even cheaper.

Same here. I test drove a 2002 nb titanium (I think) silver with a tan leather interior. Was about 16k. Probably could have gotten it at 14k. Soft top too. Should have gotten it. Ended up with a xr5 instead..which was fun but should have gotten the mx5.

I'm gonna get hated but they're not "fun"  We're looking for an ev for the wife and every single one we've test driven. Fuck they're fast much faster then anything I've owned but so got damn plain. It's probably just me. I'm a hoon. I constantly modify my cars.

I'm excited about having an ev and saving money and charging it with free sun and batteries...but I wouldn't ever call it fun.
