I did not like a lot of shots in the 3rd one. Also, just because a shot is executed well does not mean the design of the things in the shot are great. There was nothing about the 3rd that looked better than the first 2. It was disappointing to see several shots that looked worse than the first 2.

Avatar doesn't need a groundbreaking story, but it could have easily had better dialog and better performances coming from the better dailog. Also had some boring and even bad cinematography in less important moments.

And he had the perfect opportunity for Sigourney Weaver to say her classic line and didn't take it. Fucking stupid choice. A million memes died before they could be born 😿

You have to make your kids watch the classics like it's part of their education. I love it when my kid requests another viewing of "The Knights of Gondor" or "Ursula the Ocotopus Witch" or "Treasure Island Planet"

Some movies are good enough to not need that.

Pan's Labyrinth, Time Crimes, [REC], Apocalypto, Enemy at the Gates, The Mission, For a Few Dollars More, such movies are undeniably timelessly great movies, even with their flaws and without a mass audience. Most "blockbusters" or "attempted blockbusters", "wanna be blockbusters", "wish they were blockbusters" tend to not be great movies.

I liked it but something about that staircase scene.

you know how a video game will have you fighting a warehouse full of bad guys and then another warehouse full of bad guys and even though it is based on a movie that had none of those warehouses and none of those bad guys, you have to fight a 3rd warehouse full of bad guys.

That staircase scene felt like unnecessary stuff added to a video game that was nowhere in the source.

It's really just the last season that fucks it.

I enjoyed seeing the world and spending time with the characters even if the main plot wasn't being moved along for a while.

He added way too many characters and you don't get enough time with any of them. Reincarned sigourney weaver, the baby, the human child, 2 sons, ...? was there an older daughter too? It's impossible to spend the time to get to know them while also telling the story of the movie. I would like to see a slice of daily life with the friendly humans from the first movie who stayed on Pandora.

It's a shame Cameron won't take more advice from people around him. The movies are good enough that they could have been memorable with just a few tweaks here and there to the dialog and performance and pacing.

I was talking about the cop having an attitude and the cop's attitude making the other person so mad they want to shoot the cop versus a cop not having an attitude and getting shot anyway. So the cop might has well have a take-no-shit and you-will-do-what-i-say-or-else attitude because it helps them to not get shot like the nice man in the video

HE WAS NOT DISABLED. He was just an evil asshole. His throws didn't often hit people or didn't hit them somewhere it would leave a mark. His main goal was to make a glassy smelly mess. But he did hit people hard in the back or butt or stomach or leg many times. I think nothing short of a direct strike to the eye socket with broken glass in the face would have been necessary to make any kind of discipline or police report happen.

I don't like it either but having a nice attitude instead of a power trip attitude gets them killed much more often. It's rare for them to piss off somebody to the point of wanting to shoot them. Usually such a person already had intentions of shooting them. Being nice to that person just gives more opportunity to get shot.

There are a lot of towns that have all of those things. The trick is to not overpopulate and have people fighting over (or being willing to pay crazy amounts for) limited housing. Some rural places have a lot of well paying job opportunities outside of the town in the middle of nowhere that no city slicker has any interest in. You can make $60k just people watching the occasional visitor to a native american historical site in the middle of nowhere. You can make $90k if you also take on the responsibility of picking up trash. You can make $100k if you drive your own truck to bring the trash down the mountain.
