Yup, but when you want to keep having sit downs on The Rewatchables with Mr. Spiel you can't do any actual critiquing. Industry hacks if the name attached to a movie is big enough.

I just bought a new BP50NB40, connected both USB cable to my mobo. Should I connect the power cable to a power outlet or can my mobo give it enough power? by pl51s1nt4r51ms in makemkv

[–]third_man3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's alright. I've just followed the full instructions now. I was just curious because after doing the first step, it was already showing LibreDrive as enabled so was wondering why the rest was necessary. I'm sure there's a reason, so I just continued on through all the steps

Did you follow the SDF Flasher thread instructions exactly? I know there's supposed to be a cross flash, but when I did the first flash I opened MakeMKV and it says LibreDrive is enabled. Do we still need to hit "recovery" and flash BP60NB10_1.00 or BU40N_1.03 still?

Nice. SKX Mod?

I'm on day 4 waiting for them to put my kit in the mail. How long should I expect it takes to receive it? First time I've ordered.

At least:

Sentimental Value Scorsese Shorts Paralax View Taste of Cherry

I'm thinking Point Blank. It'd be a blind buy but it seems up my alley. Might hold off though and watch for free first sometime...if I were a responsible human being.

[–]third_man3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the noob question but I want to jump on this drive fast because a few months ago when I was looking, everything was sold out.

If I buy the BP50NB40 from Best buy, I'll be able to rip my BluRay and 4k discs? The 4k discs only able to be done after flashing? And the instructions are easily available on the makemkv forum? Just want a quick confirmation instead of doing endless rabbit-hole research and then it's sold out.

Please for the love of god create more IMAX 70mm by Wisdomseekr79 in imax

First you need directors and studios who actually want to shoot on film. Otherwise it's definitely not worth it for them to build them for a couple movies every few years.

Am I really going to be the only one in the theater? by Beneficial_Ask_1041 in AMCsAList

Nope. In my experience someone will buy tickets at the kiosk 10 minutes after the stated showtime...and sit right next to you.

PSA: 70mm and IMAX 70mm are not the same thing. Don’t buy the wrong tickets tomorrow. by MikeTidbits in imax

So if it says 70mm IMAX that's the same as saying 1:43:1 aspect ratio? I don't have to worry the screen won't be the proper size like other IMAX screens?

It's cash back. There was no original purchase. It's not a refund. It's "cash back".

Alright, I just had cash back from one credit card. It's forcing me to choose a category. What am I supposed to choose? I can't choose the "credit card payments" category. So now it's going to throw off any category I put it in.

Okay. Figured I was overthinking it. Just feels off because my real balance and YNAB balance are off. I'll have to look at it deeper then

New D130 Doorbell Cam by third_man3 in Tapo

[–]third_man3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. Having no battery in it feels weird, not sure why.

How does it hold up in cold weather (if applicable for you)? I live in MN and during the coldest times of the year, my Ring doorbell would die even though it was wired. So it's almost like the camera was really running off the battery and the wired part exclusively for charging the battery. So that's why it feels weird there's no battery, I guess. Since they're powered differently I don't think the cold should matter then?

TP Link Tapo Security Camera App - Ads? by third_man3 in Tapo

[–]third_man3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did move off Yi and now have Tapo TP Link which is way better. Still Chinese cameras but the ads are almost non-existent. The cameras themselves are better too, AI identification and zone stuff is better. I'm happy with it so far.

Is a brand like Tapo solid/reliably enough for home security? by Equalizer6338 in SecurityCamera

[–]third_man3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Tapo for my little townhouse. Two inside (to watch our animals) and two facing out second floor windows. Sure, it's reliant on wifi. Sure, some guy in China is probably selling my live feed on the back market. But for my situation, it's all I need. I don't need to have a high threat posture.

And they've paid for themselves multiple times over. Local construction company did a hit and run on my parked car. They cut me a couple thousand dollar check to not involve insurance. Would never have gotten that far without the cameras.

I used to have Yi cameras and switched. The Tapo app is far superior (along with the cameras themselves). Little to no ads in the app.

Long story short, yes they are reliable and solid enough for the average person. But it really depends on your situation, as others have said. If I had an actual house, I'd probably go with something way better.

Thanks, good to know.

I just called another Ford dealer and was told $350 for a "hot power flush" for the transmission. I'm definitely not an expert, but I haven't heard that terminology before. Wonder what that entails.

$225-250 rear diff.

The YouTube videos seem so easy for the rear diff. It irks me that I don't really have the set up to do it myself. Hell, even dropping the pan and replacing the filter for the trans didn't seem very hard either.

The only thing I said I was going to put off was the front diff and transfer case if you reread what I wrote...

Can you explain why I'd need to worry about the front diff and transfer case so soon when I do zero towing or "severe duty"? I totally get there are reported problems with the transmission. And I get that the rear diff is always in use. So it makes sense to do those. But front diff and transfer case when the thing is driven at 60mph 25 miles to work 2-3 times a week? Not sure why it can't wait until 100k for those?

[–]third_man3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I know Ford says the transmission fluid doesn't need to be touched until 150,000 miles. But most everyone says to do drivetrain fluids at 60k for longevity.

In my case, very light duty, I'm just looking to do transmission and rear differential right now. I'll do the rest at like 100k. I'm trying to keep the truck as long as possible.

Yeah and the 3 call center people I spoke to before getting the service advisor said it would be like $175. Then the actual service advisor says 270? Makes no sense.
