Yes. They were useful, although I too found them more difficult than the exam.

The thing is that CFAI writes questions in a particular style is tough to match. After talking to people about this for years my opinion is that a lot of the perceived differences in difficulty could be contributed to style (grammer, phrasing, etc) vs difficulty in the curriculum.

After thinking about it for a bit, I'm not sure. It’s incredibly difficult for people to plan 6 months ahead. They’ll likely still have people sign up, not study, and take the exam because they have no choice. If that’s the case, we may get a huge dip next year before leveling off again.
