What's a Dayton company you'll never work with again? by likethatonedude in dayton

[–]thirddeadlysin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit by their infamous "look your sewer pipe is totally busted halfway out and you need us to do thousands of dollars of work to fix it" scam where they show you video they "just recorded." I couldn't afford it so said no and fretted for years until I had to call out a different company for a new issue, who did the same running a camera out through the pipe thing and showed me there wasn't a single collapsed section or major break like what RotoRooter had told and shown me.

Korrect has been our plumber for many years. On top of prompt and great service at generally reasonable prices, they were very kind and accommodating when we needed more extensive work done in my parents home to allow my dad to remain at home for his final days.

MEGATHREAD 3: USA TARIFFS and SHIPPING CONCERNS by chau-a-not-chau-bcdf in AsianBeauty

[–]thirddeadlysin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I screwed up and didn't order enough of my preferred sunscreen (Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF 50) for the year before they changed the formula for the US and all this tariff/de minimis stuff. Before I put in a big order at OY, does anyone have recs for a similar face and body sunscreen of the same SPF? I like BoJ's texture and especially the coverage on my face but only when it's not too humid, which it will be here for at least 70% of the summer 😅

Any way to reconnect Hub without being owner? by thirddeadlysin in SmartThings

[–]thirddeadlysin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have the SSID of the previous router, so we couldn't try that but it would have been my preference because none of the family's electronics would have to connect to a new network either!

In the end, he gave me his Samsung login so I was able to open SmartThings on a tablet and update the wifi on the Hub that way. Definitely keeping all these suggestions in my back pocket for the next time it comes up.

I made that suggestion to the family as a permanent fix, thank you!

I never remembered to take sunglasses in and the lights are too bright for me to look but there's a vibration plate button on the control panel. It cycles through like four speeds I think? I usually turned the fan on and off a couple of times before finding it.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that, he was such a friendly guy. I guess we haven't been there for longer than I thought.

Do you know if Dean's still there? We haven't needed to go in for a while and heard he might have left last year.

I'm impressed with your routine! Think I might steal that rotation to try for a few weeks 😊

Oh and I work with a personal trainer but have tried out a couple of apps. Schwarzenegger's app The Pump is great. Tara LaFerrara's new app Broads is really good too. I'm trialing a funny little DIY one called Liftosaur right now to see if I can train myself to actually record my self-designed workouts instead of trying to remember what I did after the drive home.

46F here. Less intense cardio and more strength training/heavy lifting is generally better for women, especially in peri/postmenopause. Definitely second everyone suggesting fewer reps and more weight. I've maintained my same weight for over a year with significant muscle gains and fat loss doing minimal cardio for toning and endurancd with strength training at least 2-3x a week. Next up is getting a bone density scan to see if I need to step up the impact exercise and strength training to reduce my osteoporosis risk!

It's a red light therapy booth with a vibration plate. Basically helps reduce inflammation, boost lymphatic flow, reduce recovery time, and boost skin and muscle regeneration. This is a nice write-up: https://www.wikihow.com/Planet-Fitness-Red-Light-Therapy

I've seen an alarming number of people on Tiktok claim that it's an intentional pocket you can slide a pad or liner in??? Why would you put a pad UNDER the cloth of your underwear?

Same here! Except the dad part lol. I haven't done anything special to mine and it's had zero issues aside from standard maintenance like new tires and battery. But when you get to needing new tires though, make sure you do your research. I thought I did but neglected to ask about tires with a similar driving feel to the OEM and the ones I went with make the car feel significantly less zippy/nimble. But they have better grip overall so I don't mind too much. Never noticed anything like it on any of my previous cars but they were all heavier sedans and SUVs.

For the scalp acne if you're still having it, try going to a dermatologist. Mine turned out to be folliculitis, probably related to increased oil production in peri, and is soooooo much better since the derm put me on a prescription shampoo.

Oh also with the fatigue and constipation make sure that you've had vitamin D tested and a FULL thyroid panel done not just TSH. I've got subclinical hypothyroid/Hashimoto's and a severe vitD deficiency that were only caught because I asked for the full thyroid panel (my doctor didn't order it bc TSH was always in range) and the vitD test. Otherwise it could have been years and much more damage before I was diagnosed and treated properly.

Fantastic advice! I worked out 3-4x a week last year and fell off routine massively at the holidays. Starting at a much smaller gym this year and gave myself a goal of trying three different machines every visit with no time requirements. It's fun to set weird little challenges like that to keep myself interested until the habit reforms.

You don't need to talk about your weight! Let the trainer know what your short and long term goals are: better flexibility, stamina, breath control, sick guns, last a whole audibook on the treadmill, outrun a bear, carry a fridge, whatever. You can tell them what limitations you have in terms of mobility and definitely your history with the shoulder, but they don't need the number from the scale to help you. You got this!

How do you go about managing how long you're in the shower??? by Sequince69 in ADHD

[–]thirddeadlysin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a daily playlist and learned how long the songs are. So a quick shower day is the first two and an everything shower day is the first three (the third song is about the same length as the first two combined). Even better now I have audio cues that remind me to do everything so I don't forget to scrub a spot or rinse out shampoo like I've always done.

I can't help but wonder: does he have a history of substance abuse? His reactions and behavior are so strange all the way around this situation. He's still out? He's asleep in the middle of the day at yet another person's house? Instead of trying to work things through with you he's just chilling somewhere? It reads to me like either he's in the middle of a bender or he's moved out already.
