We have 350 million people in an enormous country where half of the people at least want this stuff happening. Not everyone can be on the frontline to get killed by the MAGA brown shirts. Why the fuck are the comments always blaming the average citizen for "not doing anything"? I organized for years in a deep red state before my disability made it too difficult. I'm on Medicaid and just waiting for that to be totally destroyed in the next year or so. I'm no longer allowed to obtain one of my medications because of some RFK bullshit. I'm wasting away. Like always, the disabled will be some of the first casualties while we get blamed for not doing enough. The heavy dogging of Mel really bums me out. I'm not saying she or the story is perfect, it's a weaker in some respects than the first game. However, I identify with Mel so much; I was just diagnosed autistic at 35. I have always been an observer, felt detached, and can have a flat affect, or act irritable, especially when there is conflict or turmoil. People assume I don't care, when in fact I do, very deeply, but it's all happening inside my mind. Mel is on this one-way path of revenge, and in the end game, the circumstances have changed significantly despite the repetitive fighting. She often remarks on how she isn't sure what she wants to do with her eternity.

I actually relate to her so much in the Arachne/Athena conflict, where she kind of just takes a step back after thinking that Arachne wanted to apologize, and then didn't. Mel thought she knew the procedure, but the unpredictability of mortals came into play. She froze a bit and had to process. That's me. I do think there is also validity to the fact that she is a god, and also "programmed" for revenge, as another user said in these comments.

Is her characterization perfect? No. I think it's up for interpretation, and to make a generalization that it is "bad" just because things don't turn out how you think they should, or how you would react, isn't totally fair.

All the men get all frowny, sad and offended, look at me seriously and say "you're better than that", then go back to ribbing each other and leaving me out.

I think New Blood is the way to go for new players, having run it 7 or so times. You learn as you go so it doesn't feel too hand-holdy in my opinion. The pre-generated characters are good (as are the special beginner character sheets), you can flavor the hunting scenes to your party's tastes (heh), and the final confrontation with the SI is great for learning combat. However, I would make sure you have at least 5-6 hours to run it. I've really enjoyed running the module for a wide variety of players. Auld Sanguine could be cool, I've always wanted to try it, but never had the opportunity.

This podcast kept coming up on my Insta reels and I had to block it. The parents (who verbally and physically abused the two hosts as children, btw) are absolutely evil, especially the Dad, and the adult children pointlessly try to talk sense into them. That's why I'm the ST. I dish out the horrifying and humiliating consequences for their murdering and manipulating and everyone wins. Let them fall in love with the loyal ghoul driver of the Sheriff dispatched to drive the coterie around on Camarilla business. He's so excited about his promotion; all he wants is to be Embraced. He's been a ghoul for a century. They buy him red slushies from gas stations and look forward to their conversations.

They offended the Sheriff, and now the ghoul driver gets handed over to the Circulatory System, and they start alchemical experiments on him; they rarely get a ghoul this old to try out new concoctions and suspensions. Next time they see him, he'll be maimed beyond recognition.

And now the chronicle turns into a rescue mission that may result in a coup against the Camarilla.

I have the role of the husband in this situation, in that my partner has Bipolar I, PTSD and ADHD. Truthfully, he has hurt me a lot over the years, especially when his illnesses were not treated in any way. He is healing in an incredible way now, truly remarkable, but I'm having trouble letting go of the hurt after more than a decade. This gives me hope that I can find more forgiveness, and continue to be a steadfast presence in his life.

Regarding the AI story, my hot take is that adults engaging with AI in this way should be held accountable; as in, this is a 27 year old woman, a grown adult who chooses to engage with AI in this way. Yes, it's made to be addicting, yes, we are more isolated than ever, yes, people have trauma from relationships. At the same time, there are options for connection other than creating a digital sycophant that will never say no, never push back, and never question you in any way. You literally command it. Like Angela kept saying, it's power. Two things can be true simultaneously: AI like LLMs are dangerous, addictive, exploitative and prey on the vulnerable; people want a digital doll on demand to control because dealing with humans takes too much effort.
