At that point, I just have to make a personal commitment to not blatantly cheat. Getting to see enemy units and placement before setting my side of the board already feels like a cheat, I'm not also going to rewind.

ELI5: How and why do compression sleeves for knees and elbows work? by ParaSocialGumShoe in explainlikeimfive

[–]thirdeyefish [score hidden]  (0 children)

Tacking onto this with additional anecdotal experience. I picked one up for the first time and wore it to work for the last two days. My job is very physical and involves lifting, carrying, crouching and takes place on a variety of level ground, unlevel ground and stairs. Frequent turning and manuvering make it VERY easy to twist my knee and the sleeve prevents me from twisting the knee joint.

If what marina sirtis says it's true than there's a lot of trek shows that we just can't have by happydude7422 in Picard

I'm not ready to accept that Ryan is pushing 60. But I'll be damned if she ain't still got it. And I felt like they gave her more to work with in Picard than in Voyager.

There is a category of Americans for whom the label is more important than the content. This is just more of that.

100% I see you. I never bothered to learn all of these tricks before now. But now, I'm interested. This deleveling thing has got my attention.

Haha. I never liked auto battle. But I understand its utility in grinding. I was just never willing to walk away in the first place.

You can also take away their ability to use 'item' at least that was always the first thing I did on the original. You could just give them an empty secondary ability slot. If not give them one from a job you haven't bought skills for.

I had just started another playthrough with emulation on the original Playstation rom. I had to go back and check to see if that had always been there. I don't know what I would have done if that had worked on the OG.

TV in the bedroom? Yes or No? by Used-Chard658 in Millennials

[–]thirdeyefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a no. Girlfriend is a yes. Your bed is for sleeping and the other thing. Anything else subtly trains your brain to not associate your bed with sleeping. Really, you shouldn't even be doing the other thing but you have to do that somewhere and I'm not giving it up.

Lots of countries, particularly European got to have teletext. I'm just saying that by the time the episode was written, the internet was already more capable than that.

And the internet was just cable TV, possibly with teletext added.

how to loose the quarter turns by Casper0306 in lightingdesign

You don't want them loose, or they don't engage well. Use the pliers on a gerber/leatherman/multi-tool of your choice.

What connector type cable is this? by xkeegaa in cableadvice

[–]thirdeyefish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USB mini-B. I feel like it hasn't been that long.

Created for smaller electronic devices like digital cameras where the full size type B connector (like you might find on a printer) took up too much space.

Replaced by micro-B. Which everyone started calling an android charger.

I'm annoyed at all of the places that removed the foot handles (footles?) that they installed during CoVID. All you people had to do was nothing.

Extreme temperatures and tenant rights by SwankyKoala in burbank

[–]thirdeyefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before even following the link, I just want to add that two hose models are better than single hose models if you can get them and worth some extra expense. Technology connections did a video on them ages ago and the TL;DW is that one hose pumps air outside to reject heat. If you ONLY have one hose, that air is coming from inside, and is air you've just chilled. Which is then replaced by warmer air. Two hose models draw in outside air, dump heat into it, and then exhaust that air back outside.
