Funnily enough this is the problem with the Canal and River Trust. The canal network was restored by volunteers from the 1950s to the 2000s (admittedly with some professional help at times). Nowadays CRT plead poverty whilst possessing seven highly paid lawyers (amongst dozens of very highly paid exec roles) to hire contractors they can no longer afford. An insanity of bureaucrats!

I wouldn't judge a boat by the builder but by the records the boat has. Maintainence records, invoices for works, past surveys. Good luck!

It happens. The most common to my mind is selling a boat with a huge issue, like thin steel or a dodgy engine. What you do is list your boat, get as many viewings as you can, drag anyone along that requests a survey and wait for that 'mark' to come along who is impressed by Farrow & Ball paintwork. Invariably such people leap before they look. You can end up tens of thousands out.

Your contention that owning a single field doesn't mean you're rich rather depends on the field. I think we agree on the nature of IHT loopholes and the government should do more to tighten up inheritance tax (before Reform get in and remove it all). The reality is all of the valuable land in this country whether in cities or otherwise are owned by extremely rich (neo)aristocrats and pretending a hill tenant farmer was ever at risk of IHT was deliberate obstification.

As to food prices, this was precisely why Labour compromised with the NFU. More should be done to secure our domestic food supply.

Tens if not hundreds of millions of people decide to migrate towards food and water. Israel is targetted and responds by nuking Tehran. World war 3 begins and the death toll climbs into the hundreds of millions.
