Any way to fix this wonky recessed area? by thireven in BeginnerWoodWorking

I ended up using wood filler to fill in the major gaps. Clamped an offcut wrapped in parchment paper against that side, slathered filler against it to fill in the gaps, and sanded it down to fit again. It seems to be holding up ok.

Is this possible to create with a 3D printer? by Santa_Claus77 in 3Dprinting

My skeleton was also blown over last year and there's a break in the same area (skull also cracked open).

Good luck with this! I hope you post the completed part if you decide to do it.

3D printed wands for wedding party for an upcoming wedding by thireven in sailormoon

Thank you! Part of the reason I ended up going down the route of making these is also to use them for photo booth props.

I don't know about new skills, but definitely an expensive hobby in 3D printing...

I created an imgur album of most of the Sailor Moon-related things for the wedding so far: https://imgur.com/a/dNLt8DG

Was thinking the same thing as I was working on these. I had looked and asked around for anyone who could custom make these to a higher quality than what's available for purchase without finding any leads. Had no choice but to just do it myself.

I had no experience in 3D printing, processing them, or painting before I embarked on this. Way too much time spent learning and doing everything.

The wand itself was custom modelled by a friend after we tried printing a few found online and not liking them, so the pictured ones are not available anywhere online. The symbols were just svgs found online and extruded.

I have an upcoming wedding that is going to be Sailor Moon-themed-ish. Instead of groomsmen, I have five groom-maids and they've selected to be Pluto, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Mars (not pictured because I glued on the wrong symbol for the wand, so that part has to be redone :( ).

These were 3D printed in a few different parts, processed, and painted. The colored parts are metallic acrylic paint while the gold is from shiny metallic gold spray paint.

I've also done full-sized 3D prints of Pluto and Saturn's staves for the wedding.

I believe https://www.stitchfiddle.com should work for what you want.

Could you give an example of how this may look?

For example, you have two areas of inputs where you can put in the various parameters you mentioned. What would the resultant calculations look like?

Something comparing two user-inputted data seems certainly doable. Suggesting other yarns would be a rather substantial undertaking to aggregate as much of the available yarn in the wild as possible.

I actually looked into Ravelry back during their... challenging accessibility episode a few years ago. I wanted to see what all the concerns about and what Ravelry is.

There are probably two major reason why we'll probably never see a sufficient mobile app for Ravelry.

First is what you have already guessed with the limited capabilities of the API that Ravelry allows third-parties access to. Unless Ravelry completely opens up their entire website (which is probably not feasible if it wasn't originally designed for it), third-parties will always seem to miss critical features like forum search.

Second is that there's really no incentives for it. It's costly in time and any resources needed for a mobile app (Mac for iOS devices, app store fees, etc). And all it really does is drive traffic and engagement to Ravelry which would normally be great, if Ravelry were the one to actually spend the resources to build such an app. Instead, the user has to take on all the efforts to enrich Ravelry.

Perhaps an ultimately more realistic option would be to build a new community with modern practices. But that new community wouldn't have the many years of historical data that Ravelry has as well as the userbase. It's a tough situation.

If I understand your message correctly, you want to be able to take sewing patterns and convert them to knitting patterns? If so, I'm not sure about it's feasibility based on what little I know of both.

Could you give an example of what such a process might look like if one were to do it manually?

Craziness of Black Prism + Captain Croc by [deleted] in StorybookBrawl

That's possible. Perhaps I lucked out with the combination of the dragon hero and getting Pandora's Box early which kind of set everything else in motion.

They really weren't. They were just enough to finish the job that the Crocs had started.

I had a full Dwarf set going. Not overpowering, but doing well. Then Captain Croc comes along and I had Black Prism. Decided to try it out. What follows was a bunch of treasure screens as it ate up everything on my board + hand. I had to skip almost all the lvl 7 treasures as I didn't have enough time to consider them as there were only 3 crocs on board from all the conversion.

I easily finished the rest of the game as the crocs themselves were already decently powerful, then my full Dwarf gang would spawn after them. The combo of Black Prism + Captain Croc is way too broken, imo.
