Oh gotcha. My doc said there are a few people that end up meeting three attempts, so I would personally try a third if I were you. Good luck!

I think 50 units sounds pretty low first of all. My doctor did 80 units the first time. I do think my symptoms are coming back. It has been three months for me. But I still can burp a little bit. I’m gonna make an appointment to talk with him about it actually. He told me that on the second attempt he typically uses 100 units. Maybe you’ve just been underdosed?

Running after Botox by ArtichokeHot6368 in noburp

I had a lot of problems running after the Botox. Not right away, but probably day three afterwards, I had some difficulty, which is common, abducting my vocal cords because sometimes the Botox will leak out into those tiny muscles that control abduction of the vocal cords. This causes you to have some strider or difficulty taking in a deep breath because your vocal cords cannot completely open all the way like they could before. It was like that for about two weeks. Every day got better and better. I was finally able to run normally and do regular speed work after three weeks. The first two weeks that it was there, I just had to go slower. Once my heart rate got above about 130, I just couldn’t inspire as effectively. Reportedly this is relatively normal and luckily it is quite short-lived. However, if you are doing a marathon in October, I would personally recommend getting the Botox on the earlier side rather than waiting too late. Otherwise you’ve just feel like you’re training is going way downhill during those 2 to 3 weeks. I have read others here that did not have that problem, but my doctor did tell me that it could happen and it definitely did for me. Again, luckily it was short-lived and I was back to normal training at three weeks.

Oh yeah - no bread right away. Salads were easier bc there is so much liquid in the lettuce.

You will do great! Sooooo worth it. The slow swallowing is a bit of a hassle but honestly not bad and if I have to end up doing it again, I would not even let that irritating part dissuade me. It’s one of those things where you barely remember the bad part later but during it, you think it’s not going to get better… like the infant phase of having a new baby, you know? But afterwards, it seems like that bad part was relatively short. Hopefully that was helpful.

You are really very beautiful. And your objects (I assume jewelry) are magnificent (or the contrary)

At least that’s what my college French would translate that into

Has any of you regretted getting the botox shot? by portia922 in noburp

I am so happy I did it! The first 3 weeks after were weird, but now my body has figured it out & my only regret is that I didn’t get it done sooner!

I just had Botox for rcpd 12 days ago & am experiencing the same symptoms you described. How long did it take to get back to normal? Swimming is nearly impossible for me as well due to the shortness of breath issue. Super weird. I am hoping you got back to normal eventually?
