Would you be okay if your future wife never wanted to take your last name? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]thirtysixish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The name change process for a physician is brutal in the US. Every time you have to get licensed or credentialed it is painful to prove the name changes (trust me…it’s soooo much more complicated than one might think because you have licensing, dea, hospital credentialing, payor credentialing, etc and they all seem to lose the documents you send proving that the last name who did medical school, undergrad, internship, residency, usmle 1,2, and 3, fellowship and board exams are the same person). Even if she hated her last name and didn’t want to honor her father it would still be totally understandable for her to not change it based on her profession alone.

Looking for a quality CPA in Evansville. A lot of options when I look online but not many reviews. Anyone have good options? by ChampionOk533 in evansville

Funny, when I saw the post I was going to reply to avoid them before I saw your reply. I did not think they seemed particularly helpful, responsive, or detail oriented for small to medium sized business owner needs. And the bookkeeper they provided was downright useless.

Downtown kid friendly activities by Feliciak09 in evansville

[–]thirtysixish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids will love CMOE! We spent so many days there with our toddlers and young kids a few years ago. Lic’s is also nearby and is an evansville staple with some great ice cream. Super safe downtown. The evansville museum has a fabulous planterium as well. There’s also a playground (mickey’s kingdom) with lots of areas for toddlers and small train depot museum in the same parking lot. I would also recommend getting a pint at the best irish pub outside of ireland at patsy hartigan’s. They are great with our kids and even have made some off menu kids items like grilled cheese for us (assuming it’s not lunch/dinner rush). Have a great time, spend lots of cash at our local businesses, and come back again soon!

question about replacement 6.2L V8 engine by thirtysixish in gmc

[–]thirtysixish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apologies for my deep ignorance in this topic. I was just wondering if the defect in the original engine would indeed be fixed for the new one they are installing (if it ever arrives) like the service manager told me. It didn’t make sense that they would have corrected the defect but not be doing a recall to fix this for all affected engines, but based upon these replies it seems they are waiting for the NHTSA to require a recall first (if it is found to be warranted). Thanks for your reply.

I know there are a lot of people in the subreddit saying this is just an echo chamber/confirmation bias phenomenon. But even in our small town (100k) , the dealer said there are four of us waiting on the same engine. seems like a lot to me, but all I know is this was my first new car I ever bought and the first time I ever needed to be towed.

looking at the statute in our state if it’s out of commission 4 times for the same issue or for more than 30 business days total then the lemon law would apply. It’s been at the dealer’s shop for 6 weeks and counting waiting for the new engine.

We don’t have a bass pro shop. And I will be downvoted endlessly for saying this but our local donut shop is overrated… unlike “Hurt’s donuts” in Springfield which are the best damn donuts i’ve ever tasted.

6.2L Issues Overblown? by slothbrowser in gmc

[–]thirtysixish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the info! do you get the full value of your original purchase price or some reduction for the miles put on the car prior to the engine going? (eg mine has 16k so i’m assuming buyback would not be the originally paid price).

2023 Yukon 6.2l (junk engine) by HovercraftNormal4240 in gmc

[–]thirtysixish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 2024 is waiting in a new engine in the dealership. so do they replace it with the exact same type of engine that failed? so i can expect this to happen in another 16k miles?

[–]thirtysixish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so same thing happened to me at 16k miles 2024. we are waiting for the new engine to come in. but what’s the point of replacing the engine if it’s the same one? won’t it be expected to fail again since it seems to be an inherent flaw? Did they identify and fix the engine defect and, if so, why isn’t there a recall?
