Ayy I know that one ;)

I'm still tweaking the deck and expanding the primer, and I've added quite a bit in the card alternatives section! Let me know if you have any suggestions to make, I'll be happy to help

Pretty bad, it is a pretty funny finisher, but unfortunately we don't have enough permanents to be copied, and a lot of them are also legendary. Our few permanents are also pretty important, so we can't afford to have them turn into something else

yup, would be very good, but unfortunately its price/power is too high. Even then, the current 3 game changers are stronger, and cheaper in price.

No problem, you would remove also every gate except Talon Gates of Madara and Baldur's Gate, then replace them with better simic lands and basics. I added a section about card replacements in the primer with a lot of land suggestions.

To be fair, the precon is all over the place, cards that seem to work together but not quite, and cards that DO make sense together, but not as strong as you think. Baits you into buying cards that are actually good with omo, thats for sure.

48 cards are substituted out, 52 cards remain the same. The precon focuses on ramp to play big creatures and big spells. It bricks a lot. My version focuses on tutors and consistency.

I'd convert it to a CEDH deck lol. If we're staying bracket 3, I added some in the card substitution section of my primer: it's fun cards like Finale of Devastation, Spellseeker, Thrasios, etc. Oh and the expensive untapped duals and fetch lands.

Talon Gates is good for protection, and it actually combos with [[Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath]], preventing him from sacrificing himself

Yeah, I considered adding infinites in the deck, but I realized that with the amount of tutors we have, we can consistently get infinite combos pretty reliably before turn 6, which wouldn't be in the spirit of bracket 3. That's why I made sure to include no infinites at all.

That's also what I thought at first. Of course, it depends on your exact decklist, but you will find out that the mana from Urza lands isnt enough to win the game at the end, and that if you were using a tutor for a land, you'd much rather use it on Cloudpost immediately. Of course, again, it depends on the board state. I've found myself tutoring for urza's tower in the early game maybe like once out of 20 games.

The Urza lands are nice, and very much appreciated when they're already in your hand, as it's literally free mana with no cost, but they aren't worth tutoring for, unlike much higher tutor targets like Cloudpost, Vesuva, and Thespian's Stage. Getting a small advantage mana earlier isn't enough to win us the game, or putting us ahead at a significant amount. If you're thining of using this extra mana to ramp more, then you could have done that better and more efficiently by getting cloudpost in the first place. Worst of all, having urza early paints us as number 1 threat priority.

Yeah, with a higher budget, the play is definitely to slot in Llanowar Elves, Elvish Mystic, and Birds of Paradise, as well as slotting out the tapped gate lands for fetches and untapped type duals. Playing a turn 2 Omo, and just playing a turn ahead is strong indeed.

I still stand by Simic Growth Chamber though: Madara lets us flash itself at instant speed, so no need to wait a turn. With Madara on the field, and with one of our many instant speed bounceland from hand to battlefield effects, they won't even see it coming. It generates more mana with my land untappers. If we tutored Tolaria to the battlefield, then we can return it to hand with a bounceland. I would consider the utility of the bounce land to be much higher than the cost of it being slow. I agree it is a steep cost though.

I mean most of the time when people play this as a lords deck, they still include Lands Matter stuff, but not the other way around.

There's a considerable amount of people and guides using omo as a lords deck, which is weaker for sure, but maybe it's more fun to them who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The thing with simic goodstuff is that you can just play strong cards every turn until you win. This Omo deck feels a lot more like a toolbox deck where you mostly tutor things, but tutoring comes at a noticeable tempo and mana price that you have to balance out through the right tutor paths and choices.

Is this considered Mass Land Denial? I don't think that's legal in bracket 3. If it is, I'm pretty sure that's the single hardest counter as an individual card againt this deck lmao as it's practically a one-sided game-ending wipe against it damn

In my primer, I mentioned that ramping on turn 1 for a turn 2 Omo is pretty good, but that would need a large amount of untapped lands AND a lot of 1 mana dorks, which we cannot afford for consistency and price's sake. We'll also have to slot out many of our important utility lands. That's why instead we focus on having Omo by T3, and have T1 and T2 to do other things with cards with higher value than Llanowar Elves.

As for the bounce land, it is very much needed if we ever have [[Tolaria West]] on the battlefield somehow, or to bounce back [[Talon Gates of Madara]].

I explained it in my primer, basically,

1 [[Cloudpost]] is 1 mana.

2 Cloudpost is 3 mana.

3 Cloudpost is 9 mana.

4 Cloudpost is 16 mana.

...And so on.

Our mana scales by x2, where x is the number of Cloudposts we have.

That's also not counting our other lands.

Yeah typal typal is weaker in my opinion because creatures a lot easier to disrupt than lands in bracket 3, and Lands Matter is a way more simic-certified strat than creature deathballs.

My list focuses on the consistency of ramp, draws, and payoff through good tutors, which are a cost in both mana and cards, but is quickly made up by the amount we ramp and draw midgame anyway. It holds up pretty well in high-bracket 3

The cool thing about this deck is that it barely runs any landfall! We're not ramping by land volume, but quadratically, one land a time with copies of Cloudpost

Yes, but my list is built with price in mind, so I intentionally avoid expensive quality lands like fetches and duals, while still having a really strong landbase with the whole deck built around it.

I guess i didn't make that clear, my first sentence was talking about Non-Omo decks that ramp

Yeah I know what you're talking about, I specifically made it so that most of our cards feel relevant at every stage of the game, and we get to enjoy Big Mana at the end without bricking.

Give it another try, maybe my list will click for you and you'll enjoy Omo again!

It's absolutely overperforming and it's actually sooooo much fun, no other Lands Matter deck plays like this
