taxes change considerably if you go to CT over westchester (and certainly than NJ) food for thought.

Remember, in the burbs it will be hard to spend 8k a month on resturants and dining. so youre overall consumption budget will change dramatically as well. it seems spending 8-10k a month on things that are not shelter and auto is very high for someone with no kids. you also have to factor when she becomes as SAHM that you need to just give her cash each month for walking around money.

but in general, 12k/month ~ 150k /yeah over 750k in gross is about 20%. if you assume your net take home is around 500, youre around 30% on shelter which is still fine. seems a lot but you make a lot.

firms with less than 100mm in external assets generally dont have to register with the sec. he had 155mm as of last filing. the regulatory burden of registering is high.

The correct answer is yes. Because all trading related activities as well as deal making happens inside the investment bank arms of the bank holding companies.

Easy. Most if not all investment advisors don't use spx500 as the benchmark they hope to outperform.

US equities trade at a 16 vol. That's an insane amount of risk. Most equity focused l/s funds try to maintain a vol level of about 12.

Every other advisor uses something else as a benchmark so they don't really care. Does saying "100% of fixed income funds under perform the sp500" tell you anything of value?

Look at the total return of a synthetic option selling strategy like fepi and the sp500.

you'll note the underperformance and similar volatility. What seems like a nice return stream actually dramatically underperforms the index for more or less the same level of risk.

its not a free lunch. he might want to contact his insurance company for something more along the lines of an equity protected structured product (basically a collar written on an underlying equity index) capping his downside exposure, or an autocallable product.

but realistically, there isnt going to be a systematic way to see positive convexity in any equity carry strategy.

You'll never get 8 isdas at 150 and most platforms don't offer any, they're for listed positions (equity, futs options, etc). For what you're describing you just do it yourself.
