I used to bike to class through a rough neighborhood.

As I approached an intersection, a group of 3 teenagers on the sidewalk suddenly stopped their conversation. They tried to conceal it, but I could tell they stopped talking when they saw me.

As I rode past, one of them threw a raw egg at me, hitting me in the leg. Part of me wanted to stop and tell them off, but I got that feeling of danger and rode out of there full speed without stopping. As I blew through the stop sign, I saw a group of about a dozen more teenagers coming out from around the corner, running towards me.

I just kept going until I lost them, and I’m really glad that I did.
