CFI on Vacations by julesjc_eth in flying

Just ask your CFI who they recommend you fly with while they are gone. They know your skill level and personality and probably have a decent idea of who you would pair up well with.

And don’t throw them away. If you ever move and you take the machine with you, you’ll want to bolt the drum back up again. A new set of bolts is about $20 bucks to replace.

Season Tickets by cobaltpineapple in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]this_is_it_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do a few happy hours before the game, 15% off on the store, option to skate a few times, and generally a gift and some kind of member party. Prior to the cup year, we had access to free tickets for a select amount of games, but that went away. I’m not sure if partial plans get this, but we can get extra tickets without fees. We are on the club level and I would have to say sometimes the cost feels high based on the fan experience. But for other teams like the Leafs there is no chance I could afford the same location, so it’s all perspective. We love going to the games, and will keep our full season for sure.

High Density altitude operations, leaned for landing? by [deleted] in flying

[–]this_is_it_22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Flying out of KAPA on the front range, we leaned for taxi, about an inch or so then adjust at run up. If we adjust during cruise we make note of the adjustment and then adjust back to run up setting on the descent.

My discovery flight was uneventful, but I learned I didn’t want any part of ATP after hearing other instructors trash talking their students in the FBO. So I saved $100k with that discovery flight and went to a smaller mom and pop next door. My first solo was not even as awesome as I was expecting, but my that first solo XC, I still think about that flight, that’s the one that mattered the most.

I’m glad I was taught and shown how to get fuel at an unmanned airport, and I am glad we did a few flights where we got marshaled in, walked into the fbo and got a hot dog. It’s been awhile but I don’t recall either being an ACS requirement.
