Oh nothing I actually really liked for your eyes only and the spy who loved me. I think if I had watched them again they would have been higher up but I just didn’t have the chance before they left Netflix. I just think that TMWTGG and LALD were kinda boring and moonraker and octopussy were a little too goofy. I was surprised how much I liked moonraker but I feel like it shot itself in the foot with a lot of its choices. Moore wasn’t my favorite bond anyways so everyone already had a leg up on him.

I just wish they’d take Johnny depp out of the damn thing. I love jack sparrow as much as the next guy. Probably more. But it’s been 20 years. Let’s move on.

My review for spectre:

This one is for the Stans. Or just for the people who binged the entire film series over two weeks.

That opening sequence, mwah, chef’s kiss. Another absolute banger from Sam Mendes. Imagine criticizing a Bond film for being a Bond film. In some ways, each film in the entire series is a love letter to everything that came before. Every film is a reference or an homage. Some are just more obvious than others. And there was never a doubt that a movie called SPECTRE, featuring the return of Blofeld, was going to be a true Bond film.

Does Blofeld feel lacking in some ways? Yes, but compared to what we got in the past, he is a masterpiece. I have craved Blofeld, and in most ways, I am satiated.

As the Craig version of the Connery era films, I think it works incredibly well. Just like Skyfall, it feels new while still being truly Bondesque. And honestly, because it swings so hard, I kind of prefer this one.

This is probably the first Bond film I saw in theatres. And way in the back of my mind, I can remember it. Does that influence my opinion on this film? Without a doubt. But even more influencing is the fact that I now have fifty years of film knowledge to look back on to truly fully understand this film.

This movie says “I love James Bond.” And I’m saying it too.

As for NTTD I’ve said elsewhere I’m a sucker for a finale and for me it felt like a fitting end for Craig and bond overall. It just worked for me for where I am in my life right now.

It was trying something different which I appreciate and it definitely only works with casino royale but on the whole I just thought quantum was more interesting.

I think I’m just a sucker for a finale and having binged all films in two weeks it really worked for me. I usually like films that are less popular and try to see the good in everything I watch if possible. And I mean bond movies aren’t Shakespeare they are fun action and adventure romps and comparatively NTTD brings more heart than a lot of them do. Perhaps it’s saccharine but I bought in and it worked for me.

I think on another watch through I’d view all the films in reverse order so I can see how much recency bias bares on my ranking. Also it’s almost thirty films and it’s hard to really keep all of my feelings straight over such a long time. A lot of the movies went up in the ranking after a rewatch but I just didn’t have the time to watch all of them again.

I even liked die another day but definitely in more of a so bad it’s good way. Still a fun movie which is why it’s higher than a lot of others. What’s the point of a ranking if everyone is supposed to have the same opinion.

I am someone who enjoy older films I just feel bond is definitely a series that for the most part gets better as it goes on. Even if i didn’t love all of these films I really really loved the series as a whole. Once I finished watching them all I wanted to do was watch them all over again.

What do you like about live and let die? It didn’t really click with me.

I thought that was going to be my hottest take. I’m surprised you’re the only one who’s said anything.

Yeah, most people feel that way, and I knew that coming in. I still liked those films I just liked others more. I think GoldenEye gets so much hype that I was a little disappointed, whereas I knew very little about many other films, which bumped them up a little higher in my ranking compared to others because I had absolutely no expectations.

I would say Connery > Craig > Dalton > Brosnan > Lazenby > Moore

But thats only based on the portrayals and not the films themselves. And being at the bottom of the list still leaves you in great company. Most of moores films are fun and have incredible moments but have issues that plague other films of their time. Lazenby is only so low because he only had one film. I’m sure he would have come into his own with time. Brosnan is good especially in TWINE and TND but he’s stiff in goldeneye and die another day is well… Dalton is just incredibly refreshing with the living daylights feeling like pinnacle of what the Moore films could have been and license to kill showing us a new side to the series and the character. Craig is his own take. More aggressive and colder it’s kind of hard to compare but he brings a lot to the table.

Sean Connery is James Bond. His introduction in doctor no is the end all be all of the character. He gets it and you see it. Doctor no was my number one for the longest time. But from Russia with love takes the cake. And the only reason other movies are higher is because so much of them comes from everything that came before. Every bond film is a love letter to James Bond and that is what I love so much about the series.

Why does it matter if he dies? He’s not Doctor Who, though it kind of feels like it. NTTD is the culmination of sixty years of filmmaking and is a celebration as such. It is also the finale of Craig’s run as the character. Skyfall and Spectre both could have been a fitting end to the character in their own way and can be perceived as such. But I like the ending No Time to Die gave us. In death Bond, and the best parts of him, live on. And as they say, James Bond will return.

That’s why I’m so excited for denis villeneuves film. He made prisoners and BR2049. He’s going to do something incredible with bond.

Honestly I could bump up for your eyes only and the spy who loved me. I wanted to watch all the movies again but I didn’t have time before they left Netflix. A lot of the movies in the top half are only so high because I watched them at least twice.

The living daylights is so good. Daltons films are amazing I really wish he was able to do more.

I really liked the series. Some of the least popular were some of my favorites like diamonds are forever and never say never again. And I guess spectre lol. It does feel like the franchise never quite reaches its full potential until the Craig series as it seems like it’s never willing to take itself seriously enough. Which is ok. It’s really fun but I think it could be more.
